10GbE USB-C / Thunderbolt network adaptors - Ubiquiti & QNAP

[link to this post]

For those that are interested Ubiquiti appear to be launching their own external 10 GbE USB-C/Thunderbolt3/4 adapter. Which as far as these things go, is pretty well priced compared to the competition...

https://uk.store.ui.com/uk/en/products/uacc-adapter-...

QNAP also introduced their own version a few months ago, the QNA-UC10G1T
https://ukstore.qnap.com/qna-uc10g1t.html

They also do a SFP version, the QNA-UC10G1SF

I wonder what the same tattoo will be between those who actually need a 10G connection and those who just want to say "my laptop has a 10G connection"?

There’s a lot more momentum now, with products like the new Asus Flashstor NAS box, it’s a 12-way flash based NAS box with dual 10G ports on it. Apple uplift to put a “real” 10GbE ports onto Mac Minis etc is fairly modest. Then there’s ISPs like Fibre Heroes, YouFibre and Community Fibre with 5G and 8G residential FTTP plans. So you can see where it’s headed and this is is in the domestic / residential space.

You’re behind the curve chief. QSFP28 is where it’s a now….

Get your hand on an ATTO Thunderlink adaptor - now doing dual port 100 GbE. Your Mac will be happy 😂
