Fritz Repeater 3000AX Issues

[link to this post]

Hi everyone

I have a Fritzbox 7530Ax (Zen) and Fritz Repeater 3000AX (from Amazon last year), the repeater is wirelessly bridged to the Fritzbox and is mesh enabled. Both are on Firmware 8.20 a d have been for some time.

On Sunday evening the Fritzbox just started rebooting every 5 mins. The only way I could get it stable was to turn the repeater off. As soon as the repeater is added back into the network the Fritzbox goes back to rebooting.

I've tried the following to resolve.

Factory Reset the Repeater
Factory Reset the Fritzbox
Perform recovery of the repeater using the firmware recovery tool.

I've managed to mesh an old Fritzbox as a temporary measure, so I don't think the Fritzbox is at fault.

I've also had issues with the repeater not joining the mesh properly or picking up an IP address, so i'm leaning towards the Repeater being faulty.

I've tried the chatbot on the AVM website but it keeps going into German and the limit of my German is ordering beer.

At this point i'm open to any suggestions before I try and get an RMA via Amazon.

thanks

Try it in wired mode, and see if the issues still happen, that way you can narrow down what the issue is, if a rma is needed!

Has the Fritz 3000ax had any firmware updates since you purchased it? If so, can you try a roll back.

I know this is painful, have you tried the 3kAX box in router mode and see what happens.

Check the documentation on the 7530AX. On my system it must be a wired 1Gbps link between the two units. Wireless cannot be used. In my case I had a lot of problems because my cable had a bad connection and the link was running at 100Mhz and so appeared ok when I tested it. Also check both are on the same version of FritzOs.

In the past I have found AVM's own support to be exemplary. With the added advantage (over this forum, which I'm not criticising in any way) that if they do identify a real unresolvable issue, they can (and do) forward it to their firmware developers to fix. Unless they shy away because it's a Zen issued item (mine was bought outright).

Agree 100%. I had a router replaced under warranty (5 years). The only difficulty I had was caused by Brexit.

Thanks I've contacted AVM and they asked for me to send support diagnostics information from the router which I've done.

Hopefully I'll get some answers soon.

Just to update everybody that this.is now resolved. Fritz support asked me to install bets firmware 8.24 on both devices and they are now coexisting fine.
