I made mine out of melamine faced chipboard with standard runners fixed vertically.

Works fine and doesn't look at all bad fixed to the wall in the garage.

Two sides, top and bottom pieces. Fix together with plastic furniture blocks with a gap of standard rack with taking account the size of the runners which can be sourced at multiple cheap places http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/19-INCH-RACK-RAIL-STRIPS-P...

Cut a suitable hole in top, bottom or side for cable entry, fix 90 degree corner blocks to fix to wall and job's done.

Much easier than I expected. About a day to make and fix the rack and then a long time to run cables fix boxes for multiple connections etc but not it is finished it's is "easy".
