Why do yo uneed a MAC code? Are you ditching ADSL and switching to FTTP? I've got an engineer booked for next week but am keeping my broadband as I need reliability and a trial doesn't necessarily lend itself to that.

I was originally going to move to Plusnet ADSL and then get on their trial but as it's taken Sky so long to do anything and still ongoing I'm just cancelling altogether and going with FTTP through Andrews & Arnold. It would've taken an additional few weeks before anything happened with Plusnet as they're awaiting delivery of routers and the changeover process but am going to go solely with FTTP and have my unlimited net through my phone if I need a backup which has a wifi router built in so can tether through there to browse the net if need be. Also don't really want to be paying for 2 seperate services if I don't need to.

Hi,
The FTTP is still in trial so might not be advisable to cease out your existing ADSL service just yet, as the FTTP can go down as part of the trial while they may tweak or push something.

"In an apartment", that's a sticking point at the moment due to the fact the cables have to be installed into a building that is owned and occupied by different people. If the premises had a patch panel system, I guess maybe that fiber could be installed inside this cab sometime in the future to provide broadband?

Regarding areas that are participating in the FTTP/H trials, I am unsure as to what areas are included as it seems to have extended from the orginal areas that were earmarked. On that note, Kents Hill where I live was one of the original areas earmark for the trial and although my number came up on 29th Aug as being able to get FTTP I've heard nothing, even though I've registered my interest in joining the trial. The MK council Web Site hasn't had an update since 16th August and MKBAG's lastest news page hasn't had an update since July? So does anyone know if we have reached a technical sticking point?

Hi Stevejh

I've kept looking for info, but there is nothing around.
I know that all the cabling is in and completed in Walnut Tree.
However, there is no information (anywhere) about when and how it will be implemented.
I'm thinking it's a marketing ploy to whip up interest. smile
Either way, It's getting boring.
