Redraw Internet - A huge thumbs up

Hi all

I've been on this forum posting here and there about my recent Tooway experiences. I was one of their customers affected by the poor performance issues that have been going on for a while.

Eventually I gave up and cancelled the service.

I then found out about a WISP - wireless ISP called Redraw Internet. They provide wireless broadband using 5ghz transceivers to your property. I've gone for the 20mb up AND down service and can confirm that its excellent. My previous satellite connection had a latency of 800+ ms. The new redraw connection has 25ms latency. A huge difference.

Their installation guys are fast too. I contacted them on the Wednesday and I was fully online by Saturday evening.

For those of you in rural locations or with poor ADSL give Redraw a call to see if they can offer you a wireless connection.

where are you, and do they have a coverage map.

I'm in East Anglia. Don't think they have a map. Best bet is to contact them. If there is enough interest in an area they will setup a gateway.

I've been down much the same route with BeyondDSL.
The problem is FINDING the ISPs who offer a fixed Wireless Link. Google is very little help,

What is needed is a list of ISPs offering fixed links and the areas they cover,
Get rid of the phone line and it's better, faster, cheaper & more reliable.

I was with RedRaw a few years ago when I foolishly moved to the east side of the Isle of Dogs, London Docklands - without doing any broadband homework. I believe their services started in the area over a decade ago. Despite being less than 1 mile from all the main datacentres ADSL was the only option 512k at best, and only 20CN. Managed to get a 4mb 5ghz link to the data centre which was frankly a miracle!

Hey Michael... I suppose trees will often be the issue... whether it be growth above or below ground... a rural community will always be more vulnerable to the vagaries of nature... which will inevitable influence costs!!

If you believe the Wikipedia entry to be incomplete / in error you should correct it.

That is, after all, how wikipedia is supposed to work!

Contact your ISP, tell them about the wiki entry, ask if they want to update it with their info or if not then you can.
