Issue with Fiber Optic Broadband and Network Performance

[link to this post]

Hi everyone,

I’m facing issue with my new fiber optic broadband installation. Although the installation is complete, I’m experiencing inconsistent internet speeds and occasional connectivity drops. I suspect the issue might also be related to my network setup since these problems seem to affect both wired and wireless connections.give me any suggestions regards this issue thank you.

What service are you signed up to and who with? Have you raised tickets with the ISP about the dropouts? Have you confirmed for certain that the dropouts are the connection rather than wifi issues? What sort of inconsistent speeds and how are you measuring them - do you see inconsistent speeds in real world usage (in which case what to) or is it just speed tests (in which case what speed tests)?

Try a known working cable directly connected from a pc or mac directly into the ont, create a pppoe connection and then test from there. That way you can discount your own network.

Having the same problems on both wired and wireless connections doesn't specifically point towards your network setup being at fault. If the fault is with the fibre connection or the ISP supplied hardware then you'd expect to see both wired and wireless connections impacted.
