Finally on Post Office broadband

[link to this post]

At last my Ma gone live today with the PO,the Netgear ADSL2+ DM111PSP Router they supplied was dead easy to set up as the username and password is already in it.Seems to be running fine cant check the line profile as the BT tester is not working,it is syncing at 7616kbps though should be able to get max sync as she is close to her exchange, dont know if it will increase yet as its day 1 of training.Plus interleaveing is on and some routers report a 7616 sync,my old belkin reported 8128 on my own line with interleaveing on .Getting just under 2 meg on bbmax at the moment.

Once the IP profile rises you should get a lot faster, interleave unless a manic gamer is probably worth having to protect against blips that cause packet retransmits

Sounds like it's going okay, it would be great if you could keep us updated when as your IP profile is lifted upwards from 2MB, as Andrew says.

Update on what is happening,

Came up to my Mums tonight and had to phone the Post Office Support and got a bit angry with them.
The 10 day training has passed now and on the 12th day but still getting 1800-1900kbps speed and profile is still stuck on 2000kbps.
First they tried to talk over me by insisting " its up to 8 meg,you wont get the full 8 meg ",then when I said that I understand about broadband and know there is a stuck profile as the IP/braS is stuck on 2000 and this happens sometimes when upgrading. He said " sorry I dont know what your talking about what do you mean, you wont get the full 8 meg ".So I tried to explain it is syncing at 7616kbps but the profile is stuck.
They just didnt have a clue!!! I asked him if this was tech support and he said yes,so I asked to speak to someone higher but he said no one was there.
He then said he would do a line check so I waited and waited on hold,he came back and said leave it till after Monday and call back if there is no change.I said I have been doing speedtests on the BT tester so he can see on there the profile has been stuck on 2000,you know what he said??????
We dont have access to the BT tester to see the results infact we dont have internet!!!

LOL sorry but being with NewNet myself and ex Idnet not used to this kind of sloppy support, brings back memorys of Tiscali but these could be WORSE if thats possible. Will phone in a few days though doubt the profile will go up,and see what they then say.

Bit sad when users have to train support. Especially if the support say sorry that's not in the script so irrelevant.
