Just browsing the Vivaciti forums and there is a post here indicating they can now take partial LLU orders on TalkTalk enabled exchanges.
You can finally keep your voice line where it is and make use of the TalkTalk kit.

gmoorc,
I did a line check and it looks good, although a little expensive if one doesn't need 100GB FUP - maybe another partial LLU deal will become available from Vivaciti in the coming weeks for lighter users?
Also couldn't see anything about contracts etc.

Called Vivaciti this morning and was informed that they will probably have a cheaper, lower usage deal in a few weeks time, also partial LLU on a one month contract.

I think this could be a popular product. You see quite a few posts where TalkTalk are the only LLU on the exchange and the need to move your phone seems to put people off.
Check the situation with protocol management.
If it is using the same obit product as surfwise complete there may be throttling at certain times of the day which you can remove along with the FUP for an extra charge. I guess this depends on the package they have put together.
The guy at Vivaciti said the future less expensive product would be similar in usage terms to my current Plusnet "Pro" deal ???
Guess we will have to wait and see what happens...
Thanks for starting the thread and the info, much appreciated

Contracts are still monthly on this product.
No problem.
Don't know why they haven't publicised it at all unless they wanted a slow roll out... ooops
I noticed the throttling mainly on iplayer during the day so if that is important to you it would be worth double checking with them.
However a month contract and no phone line issues means it should be fairly risk free to try it out assuming that the normal MAC process still applies.
The iplayer issue should all have been sorted out a while ago as this should not be part of the restrictions.
Yep, when I did a line check last night a message came up about obtaining a mac key from my current ISP - guess the reverse process would apply if one wished to leave Vivaciti partial LLU and return to adslmax or whatever...
If there is throttling on iPlayer then it would definitely be a "no no" - I like to watch HD programmes in the evenings which I can do with Plusnet Pro without any problems, YouTube HD also.
vivaciti,
Thanks for the info.
But what about the mac process if one wished to leave Vivaciti partial LLU and go to another ISP on adslmax or whatever?

You just request a MAC in the normal way.
There is no throttling on iplayer, there was an issue with it being placed in the lower priority but this had been resolved quite a while ago now.

Could I expect much improvment on Vivaciti / Opal LLU apart from escaping the dreaded BRAS profile.
Would be very grateful for any comments.

igsy,
Probably not a lot according to this: http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
Upload speed should improve though?

Thanks very much for the link, and as Robert says,-- "No profiling" which is a BIG plus.
I was wondering what sort of service I would get from Vivaciti/Opal? Vivaciti seems to be OK but some stuff I read about Opal does not seem very encouraging.
I am with Zen at the moment so am perhaps a little spoilt.
I'm still trying to get my head around how these products work but as I understand it the 'physical' connection at the exchange is using the Opal/TalkTalk kit.
At some point on the surfwise packages the connection is handed on to the Obit network.
This is the network that provides your connection to 'the internet' so I guess this would have more impact on the quality of your service.
Can someone more technical help me out here please
At the end of the day you deal with Vivaciti and they are the ones who will act on your behalf with their suppliers.
I am with Zen at the moment so am perhaps a little spoilt.
I was with AAISP before moving to Vivaciti surfwise complete and have noticed minimal difference in the quality of my connection after having the 'file sharing add on' applied to my account.
On one month rolling contracts guess one could see for one's self how Opal performs - there would be very little to loose in the Vivaciti deal if it didn't work out..
BTW other problems aside, some of my relatives use TT LLU and always get very good stable speeds, one of whom has 40dB down attenuation.
Thanks for the replies guys. AAISP always looks good doesn 't it.However most of my use is peak time which has ruled it out for me.
As you say, one months contract seems to make it a no brainer to give it a try. Think I will give it a go - it's my only chance of getting a partial LLU. I don't use anything like the 100GB, more like 20GB but I guess I will be able to change package if,and when others come along. Even with this though I will be better off.
Please let use know how you get on - I'm also definitely interested in Vivaciti partial LLU but waiting for a cheaper deal with a lower monthly usage allowance to become available from them
Will do. I am going to ask for my Mac code on Monday and move on as soon as I get it.
BTW I did ask the guy at Vivaciti this morning if lower usage products would be coming along on partial LLU and he said not !!!!
Could be they just want to maximize sales on this rather than have a queue of possible sales later on.

Cheers igsy,
I've currently got a "sweet" deal on my Plusnet Pro account for a couple of months, when and if it returns to the full monthly price then the quoted Vivaciti deal will certainly be back on the table...
Best of luck with the move...hopefully you will never have to suffer an IP Profile again

I'm going onto this tomorrow, as 50GB has me and the missus watching closely what we use.
April will see further changes (LLU Unlimited).
Bit dubious that O-Bit has been mentioned as having something to do with the process, as this was the reason I jumped ship from the [censored] that was TITANADSL (O-Bit's fault may I add).
I really hope I do not regret the shift... I'm not expecting speed differences, just hopefully 100GB and a solid connection. Fingers crossed.

Well, got my MAC code from Zen this morning and have been given 11/02/2011 as the date for my transfer.
Fingers crossed.

Hi,
I migrated to the surfwise Variety package on the 14th of this month. My synch speeds are 10395/1022 and my throughput stays consistent 24/7 --no speed drops at busy times. These won't be the fastest speeds you will see but coming from an 8mg max connection and on a fairly long and noisy line they are a big improvment for me.
When I have contacted support for a couple of odd queries they have responded quickly and well.
There is no usage monitor but as I do not use anything like the 100GB allowance it doesn't affect me.
Overall then a very happy bunny.

I've been with Vivaciti Surfwise Variety since the 25th of January.
My happy experience is the same as yours except.
What I've read on the internet, there is no training period with adsl2+ llu, but my connection seems to be a bit of a freak. When I connected on the 25th January, it sync'd at 15.8mb and stayed the same for about 12 days. In the last few days, my connection has disconnected and re-sync'd every 12-24hous. Each time it's re-sync'd, the sync speed has increased and its current sync is 17.3mb.
The down speed snr has remained the same around 6db.

I've been with Vivaciti on Surfwise for ages. I still have the same problem I've had since connection even after I was moved to Talk Talks LLU when the exchange was upgraded last September (NEBEA).
I spoke to Vivaciti about this after I lost all connection and phone line a couple of weeks ago as my upload speed had jumped from 512 to 1048 after the line came back on. They said that their records show I was moved to LLU last year but as the jump was only after being reconnected I think I was transferred then.
Anyhoo, the problem I still have is that even though I have a reasonable and steady sync of around 8700 (I am 200m from the exchange) any Usenet downloads always start at max speed but after a couple of seconds drop by around 2meg to a steady 5500.
I have spoken to O-Bit previously (when I was not on LLU) who say they don't cap Usenet but as I have a second line to the same exchange with Plusnets older Unlimited service that runs at max speed without droping it seems more likely that they do cap at 5.5M

Hi ,a few things to ask the throughput looks way to low for only being 200m from the exchange.
Whats is your downstream attenuation? mine is 45db a long line a few miles from the exchange and i can pull 8392.
I would imagine u would be at say 15db and should see 17000 sync.
As for usenet traffic i dont see any restrictions with obit llu when i do the odd download.

Something is wrong with your line or your computer equipement.
You say your only 200 metre's away from the exchange which would mean your connection should sync much higher because your so close to the exchange. It doesnt sound like a surfwise network issue, there is something wrong between the exchange your finger which presses the mouse button.
I cant narrow it down any closer because you havent included any important information.

Typo! should have been 2000m
Here's what the problem looks like, left side is using my Vivaciti/O-Bit line, starts at 8mb+ then drops to 5.5mb after a couple of seconds, does this 24/7 any time of the day or night. Right side is using Plusnet line, 8mb and stays there solid.
Looks like traffic shaping to me as the usual speedtest sites all show no speed problems using non Usenet traffic.
