C&W fastpath?

After waiting 25 minutes for Xilo to pick the phone up, they informed me that C&W doesn't allow for fastpath, period. I was under the impression that they did and that it was Xilo who chose not to offer it on certain products. I've read other conflicting information and some of it was a bit dated and suggested that the situation might change.

Can anybody clarify and outline the current state of play?

It can be lowered to almost off. They did trial a pure fast path profile on some exchanges but that seems to have gone by the way side and we have not had any more information either way since.

I was also looking into this. Looks like the lowest interleaved setting is 8ms.

It's a real shame they don't offer fast path as it can actually increase sync speed. I can understand making interleaved the default, but not allowing fast path at all is abit extreme.

They have also made some other changes so if you need a profile change say lowered SNR if there is no fault on the service then they will no longer entertain any profile changes, If a change was made as part of a fault and the fault is now resolved wiring issue, cpe etc) then they will not lower the SNR back down.
Have a few customers not very happy at this.

Yeah this seems like a real pain. Maybe all the resellers should join together and complain, sounds like they are worse than BT at doing stuff for ISPs.

Luckily I can reduce my snr margin manually, its just a shame interleaving is forced on. Unfortunately, I can't bet be/02 at my exchange

As Viv state, they did do a trial but the outcome was that they thought the profiles were not stable enough and will not be rolling them out any further.

Not the best outcome.. but as they do not have any automatic systems to allow control over this, I assume they decided not to due to the manual work involved in each change.

They are working on a API system to allow some changes but that has been in the making for over 18 months - even inter-C&W migrations still dont work and that was meant to be fixed December 2009.

lol, hopefully they will sort out the API system some time soon. Considering these new exchange rollouts took almost 1 year, I'm not surprised their API system has been delayed

I remember when I was on Bulldog, they were never keen on profile changes then - some things don't change.

We can make profile changes over our Tiscali wholesale connections and we can now reach just over 2000 exchanges with this product with free migrations.
