Being reasonably close to a Market 1 exchange (which is arguably a bit better than being quite far away from a Market 3 exchange before my house move) I'm curious about the prospects for any updated connection options.
My exchange WAS on the 256 C&W list but disappeared, it's not on the Demon list either (LVWTW), there is no 21CN date or anything else threatening to give me an alternative to the 20CN network.
I'm on a new estate, so there wont be any cable options for some time (if ever), so are ALL exchanges supposedly going to be 21CN by some date?
While probably not economically sound, have any other small exchanges been blessed with any of the better options and given users better options?
I'm not expecting miracles, but it would be nice to get an upload speed higher than a piece of wet string

A few Market 1's do get FTTC via a nearby enabled exchange, but I'm afraid Westwood (nr Warrington) isn't on the latest list I have seen.

Ah well Thanks for the info though, I'll keep checking the seemingly static results of Samknows and the forums just in case

I was similar posistion last year. according popular opinion across various forums, not a chance of getting anything more than market 1 any time soon, then without warning, both Talk Talk and sky unbundled within a matter of months of each other at the Newtown Powys exchange.
I suppoose this will happen more and more as the bigger exchanges get more saturated.

Good to know Did you find out via Samknows or other means?

I'd be inclined to see Westwood as a viable target for FTTC and backhaul the fibre to the Central Warrington exchange.
Looks to be a prime commuter area, the geographic spread is atkin to that of Peterborough and that has a large FTTx deployment planned

Well of sorts with Sam knows, they were quick with TT, however very slow with Sky, I knew some months before, due to their line checker. However the exchange checker here on the Map still has Newtown as Mrkt 1,

I certainly hope so. There is a lot of new housing development here, a new school to go in, etc so maybe they are just waiting for the school to be built to make more of an effort
The info on Samknows doesn't appear to have changed since I moved here (from 1/2 a mile away) 2 years ago so I know that there are a lot more domestic lines that have been installed and connected to that exchange but the number doesn't appear to have changed, and there are a lot more to be connected as they continue to develop.

Thanks again I've just checked Sky on the off chance they have installed something, still no joy, but I'll keep checking every now and then.
Could be worse, I could be in one of the areas where it's only just possible to get BB, but then the flip side is they are the areas that seem to be getting some attention so could end up with 40Mb fiber before I even get 21CN/LLU.

With hindisght, Sky rep was pitched up for some months before, talking to the rep it was down to how many combined packages they sold . TT had it planned for 3 yrs. they would not commit on a date even speaking to TT one month before they did. I suppose as the bigger exchanges become less profitable due to saturation they begin to look at smaller exchanges. Then they all rush to fill the same whole at the same time I know what my business adviser would say!

However the exchange checker here on the Map still has Newtown as Mrkt 1,
The market group is set by Ofcom each year when they review it, not when the exchange gets LLU providers.

Then I'll contact Sam Knows & Kitz they have the wrong information on the sites. Do you mean about the Market Group? If so, I think you have misunderstood bookey.
The LLU situation does not automatically alter the classification of an exchange. OfCom do periodic updates and everyone has to work from that. Market classification is totally meaningless anyway from the end user point of view unless they choose Plusnet, as Plusnet is the only ISP I know of that charges a lower price on Market 3 than Market 1. I think, not sure, that they charge Market 2 the same as Market 1. All other ISPs charge Market 1 rate everywhere.
The ISPs get charged differently by (BT Wholesale and ?) Openreach depending on the Market classification.

One other option to consider is the 'Max Premium' add-on, which takes you to 832k upload sync (or at least I think it's 832). £7.83 per month though. There's a mention of it in a thread of mine in the PN section.

I took market as, Market 2 - Exchanges where two or three operators provided broadband services (including BT). I believe this was in the context of the OP. However here on the Broadband Map it has Bt wholesale as the only provider on the exchange.

All bookey and I are saying is that 2-3 LLU operators does not make an exchange Market 2 until OfCom reclassifies it, which happens in batches once or twice a year.
If the OfCom list still says Market 1, then it is Market 1.
If Newtown is listed by OfCom as M2 then fine. If they haven't got round to it yet then it isn't. Simple fact. Newtown appears to be M2, not just on samknows.

I've seen that option with PN, but it's one of those things that's not needed all the time, but when it is it's painful to watch. If I've a very large file to transfer, I put it off if possible and goto the office to do it when I have to.
I was spoilt by the LLU upload I had a couple of years ago, and now some of the guys I work with are on infinity so are getting 40Mb/8Mb connections I feel left out

It is Market 2 as far as what i read, I did not diasagree that its just on sam knows, kitz as well and here, http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultati... However the tb Map here has it as Market 1. Ive mailed the tb team here and posted here on tb. "Brick Wall". In my case the tb Map cannot be a useful source.

You ought to be able to get (up to) 830Kb/sec upload if you switch to a business-grade product, but you'll very probably be paying more. (But do watch-out, some ISPs claim to sell business-grade, but don't put you on the higher speed/elevated services profile)
