Re: ADSL24 line rental

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

James,

Would the new BT line be the unused pair that comes to, for example, an external junction box on one's premises and a second nte5 connected to that?

That new line would be allocated a different number and connected to the Opal MPF kit (full LLU) at the exchange when available right?

Initial price would be £79 for the new BT line and a phone/broadband full LLU deal on a package similar to "C&W Home" on a one month contract with a £49 set up fee. Or what exactly is this "new bt line... £79...cheap broadband...1 month contractmigrate...for free...to Opal... " arrangement?

Currently you are not offering full LLU at my market 2 exchange where the only LLU provider is Opal/CPW. Guess new lines are coming soon...

Hi

BT would use an available unused spare pair from any incoming drop wire, so it would not affect your existing line, and yes it would be a brand new number. The only thing is that to migrate the line to the Opal network it needs an active ADSL service on the line, so you would need to sign up to one of our other broadband packages for a month before switching over. You could save on the broadband activation fee by signing up to the C&W 12 month package which has free setup, then pay the £25 exit fee to migrate away in the 12 month contract smile, so in total £25 rather than £49 setup. Then the migration to Opal MPF is free also.

We will be able to provide the Opal service at any exchange where they have equipment present, regardless of market 1/2/3 etc.

James

James,

Many thanks for the info and clarification smile

There would be a cessation of broadband charge of £25 on the old line by BT I should imagine, or could you cover that in some way?

We wouldn't charge a BT wholesale cease fee as you would be migrating away, not ceasing. In the same way we don't charge existing customers if they move to a TalkTalk MPF service (as saddening as them leaving to go to TalkTalk may be!)

Why would you be installing a new line and then ceasing the existing line? Why not just migrate the current phone line over to Opal?

James,

I mean a cessation of broadband fee on the current line before switching to broadband on the new line and having broadband/phone with you. That would be a £25 cessation of broadband charge by BT, then a charge for new line at £79. That would be followed by a £25 set up fee using your "cheap" broadband and migration to Opal MPF arrangement.

It's starting to look expensive and rather complex to me smile

But that would be all down to you wanting a new line tongue

If you simply transfer your existing line, there would be no cessation or migration charge smile

I'm also interested in the Opal package. Our exchange has ( bulldog , talktalk , tiscali ext)

Is it same as what Primus are offering (40or100gb use with no rate liming ect) depending on package.??

Are most of the resellers using O-bit ( Daisy) for these combined phone line & ADSL2+ packages or something else ??

Just tring to usderstand how it all operates smile

Thanks H-B
