Looking at Vivaciti LLU, likely to get better performance?

As I'm starting to use my connection more than for just basic web browsing and a bit of streaming I'm starting to notice drop outs caused by what I think is BT's DLM.

I don't think my current ISP will be able to do much because of course BT don't give them control over the circuit parameters.

I gather that the LLU prvoiders' line management is more forgiving, I didn't have the best experience on O2 but have had some work done on the line since.

Line is currently modulated as ADSL

Sync is currently 3520 kbps, attenuation is 56 Db and Noise Margin is currently 5.9

throughput hovers between 2.9 and 3 Mbps

So any advice welcomed.

No, other than a faster upstream. Line too long to benefit from ADSL2+.

It might, but can you be sure that it's not due to your own wiring/environment? Have you done the usual checks, ring wire, test socket ... ?

O2 appears to be unreliable for some at the mo', but I understand resellers are immune from these issues.

New type NTE5 fitted last August (has grey Openreach logo on) so I gather this has the ringwire filter in.

There's no extension wiring connected and have an ADSL Nation filter and Shielded wire between filter and router.

Would be useful to hear from anyone actually using it.

The BT Wholesale DLM is designed to prevent dropouts.That's one of its main purposes. So for it to be causing them is rather unusual.

The only situation I know of, which is new since the revised DLM was introduced on WBC, is that on stable lines it can sometimes wrongly lower the sync-time margin to 3dB, and that isn't high enough to avoid evening dropouts on some connections.

What time do yours occur?

Is your router one of those supported by RouterStats Lite, (scroll down the page past the Full product)? If so, get it and monitor the noise margin at 5-second intervals. Set it to graph and log to file.

There does not seem to be any pattern to them at all.

Last one was about 3 hours ago.

I've now fixed the router to ADSL (G.DMT) instead of multimode to see if it has any effect.

The ones around 12 are where I was adjusting modulation etc

At the time of the LCP down this morning there was not a PC or games console on although my smartphone (an android based SE Xperia Ray) is connected via wi-fi but other than software update checks its not set to retrieve anything automatically.

Lowest NM figure I've seen is 5.9.
