After todays show at Vivaciti I am strongly considering going back to LLU with Xilo.
Im looking at their Unmetered Pro LLU-TTB package which says no traffic shaping. Is it still unshaped and unmetered, who runs the service or is it Xilo itself over tt tails?
Does the package include any kind of hosting? And the main important one for me is there an SMTP server included in the package or is that extra?
I am sure I will think of more questions over the coming days, but my experience on Enta hasnt been great and I asked a few hours ago for Interleaving to be turned off on my line but it doesnt seem to have happened.

Tim,
Fastpath was applied to your account once the order is placed it is automated, I did see a response from your ticket saying it has been applied, is this not the case?
|
|

Yes Fastpath has been applied. But yesterdays slow down was the final straw and if it is MS updates it will happen again every month.

Why does it take up to 5 days to get a MAC, cooling off period?

I am currently using this product and have had, to date, very little problems and what problems I did encounter where resolved very quickly by the apparently tireless 24/7 on-the-job Matt.
I can confirm no traffic shaping and no metering as of yet and afaik, the service is provided using the Opal/TT backbone, but run independently of their usual network management by Xilo/Uno. A free hosting account was provided to me when I asked for one. This includes SMTP mail.
If your only option is ADSL2, I can't recommend Xilo and this SMPF partially-unbundled service enough.
What about the C&W Extreme product? Do you have C&W LLU in your exchange?

Many thanks for that recommendation. I did have an email conversation with Matt at 2am the other night and he answered my questions. Glad to know its the Opal Backbone as I had very few problems with this network when Vivaciti used it. C&W is not available at my exchange so it looks like the Unmetered Pro Package for me.

No problems at all for me on their TTB Pro Unlimited package. I've been on that package for a little over a year and apart from one known short problem which was acted on quickly, it's been rock solid. One thing that could be better is the upload speed which is quite a low sync of 0.7 meg, compared to the 1.4 I had previously with a BE connection. I don't if this is a limitation imposed by TTB to create a market for an Annex M product, but though Xilo where helpful trying to increase it that's as good as it gets it seems.
Overal though, a very good service.

Yes I know about the limitation on the upload, there is the Pro Advanced with 2.5 meg upload but a bit pricey for me at 24.99 + VAT, but thanks for the info.

The deed is done. Smooth signup process, so far so good.

I'm going to miss Xilo, not leaving out of choice, but out of logistics.
Matt (who I'm convinced doesn't eat, sleep or actually leave premises) has been so good to me over the years, I even had new lady Sophie (from billing) sort out everything for me when payment couldn't be made.
I was on the Pro 100GB package and never looked back, there was the "infamous" three day glitch but they apologised for it and we all got a full explanation, since then they've been brilliant and I'll be back soon.
Off to 4G EE mobile broadband for a little while, but that's pricey, only option I've got until the new house is done.
Good luck Banger, you'll love them.

Good luck with EE, I had an enquiry from Daisy today.

I am now the proud owner of a Xilo/LLU line. Was initially put on a 12db profile but that was sorted and now am getting 18 meg sync and about 16 meg throughput. Long may it continue.

I think the bump in the streaming graph is my billion router as no matter what ISP I have been with I always get this.

Loving the Xilo control panel, especially the session history and reasons for disconnection (mostly me tweaking my connection or trying different routers). The RAS link is also useful to see if you are getting through to the RAS server and list of log ons.

Looks to me as though a buffer somewhere at your end is filling up. It could be the router, or RWIN on your computer. What OS are you on?
|
|
|
Win 8.1 32 bit, Rwin is automatic isnt it? I think the same is on my adjusted rwin xp boot but cba to reboot into it. I would of though if rwin couldnt cope the http x6 would show same symptoms and that is perfect.
Edit: more detail

That's why I asked what OS . RWIN should be fine, though there was someone here a year or so ago on a post-XP system where it wasn't.
|
|
|
But if it wasnt it would effect http: x6 and thats ok.

Good point!
