Congratulations to Timico on smooth transfer.

[link to this post]

I've just gone back on line and in the past hour the change to Timico has taken place without any action by me.

I have new static IP and speed as before. Not having to change details in router is a bonus.

As someone who was very happy with COMS I hope the service continues to run smoothly.
The difficulties with access on Sunday was annoying but considering the tasks involved in doing the transfer from COMS understandable once I could get back to ttb to find that it was not a problem at my end.

Thank you Neil and your team and don't be put off by the boorishness of some members.

Thank you Mikebear,

Glad it has gone smoothly today. All 11 TalkTalk realms are now live on our network and we're restarting sessions in batches to force customers to re-authenticate to the new route. No problems so far.

Just restarted the router as I could not wait to see the change. Got my new static IP now.
Unfortunately my pings are higher now. Ping to bbc.co.uk was 17-20ms before the migration. Now it's higher frown
PING bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=1 ttl=57 time=36.6 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=2 ttl=57 time=34.2 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=3 ttl=57 time=42.9 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=4 ttl=57 time=29.9 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=5 ttl=57 time=30.8 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=6 ttl=57 time=38.8 ms
64 bytes from fmt-vip133.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk (212.58.246.104): icmp_seq=7 ttl=57 time=30.0 ms

Is it still too early to complain?

You can request a change. Easiest way is to download RouterStats, that tells you. Or just ring Timico. Unless you knew if your line was interleaved before, then its impossible to tell if that is the cause or not

Thanks Bob
I just finished talking with them. Will know about interleaving tomorrow as it takes 24 hours to fully migrate?

Same thing here, ping across all games/speedtests I've tried so far has increased.

BBC.co.uk went from 17-19 to 35
League of Legends went from a steady 28 to 48
World of Warcraft went from 101 to 124 (edit: seems to be 147 now, steady.)
Ookla speedtest from my location to Cardiff went from 13 to 45, ran 5 speed tests all the same

None of these are game breaking, I'll give it a few days to settle in before I check for interleaving or whatever that is laugh at least 100% of the internet seems to be working so far!

Whats your target noise margin now set at? Or if you dont know, are you syncing at the same speed as before?

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,023 / 9,470

Roughly the same as it was before I restarted my router when I was connected to COMS

Using the RouterStats program someone linked above, the only "noise" setting I could find gave me a Rx Noise: 12dB

I have no idea what it was before.
EDIT: found this in my moden statistics page

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1,023 / 9,470
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 19.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 15.5 / 26.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12.5 / 12.0

Ah, reason i asked is usually when migrating with a Talk Talk line they reset your line stats to their default values. This can increase noise margin (inturn reduce sync) and i believe interleaving is turned on by default when migrating.

The default noise margin when migrating with TT is 12db. You can lower this and get a faster sync speed. db on a good line or 9db will be better

Changeover went smoothly here too.

Pings definitely seems higher. Speeds do look roughly the same tho.

Hopefully things will settle down.

As op said, thanks Timico for the smooth changeover.

Another smooth migration. Restarted router last night and router connected via Timico with existing authentication. A traceroute showed typical 13 hops with a 30ms latency via Enta, now about 9 hops and 40ms latency via Timico. Appears more snappy despite longer latency. Will the connection retune automatically to get similar latency as before? (I don't remember asking for any special configuration in the past). I am 25m from the exchange and can see most of the copper from my front window,

FWIW I was one with no issues with ADSL24/COMS - the connection has always been good (Sunday excepted).
