Good Morning,
I am looking for some advice and I came across this site after using DSL stats on my netgear D7000.
The crux of the issue is that my speeds have dropped significantly since I started with Pulse8 and it looks to me like DLM has put a cap on the line of 18 down and 18 up (I have run multiple speed tests over wired and wireless and it hits 18 and then abruptly stops almost as if there is an artificial limit applied)
Been with Pulse8 for 2 weeks and the speeds where static 60 down 18 up and around 3 days ago I brought a much higher quality RJ11 cable from Tandy which has improved the sync so my line has only realistically been up for 3 days or so.
Was with VM for a while but left them due to nasty peak utilisation issues and prior to that I was with BT infinity which synced at a permanent 76 down 18 up.
Here are my stats.

Best bet is giving them all call. They should be able to tell you what if any limits have been placed on your line by the DLM or whatever
Done that already mate and the profile is correct according to them.
Could it be a very bad case of congestion?

Your downstream sync is 62,666kbps, so not DLM and capping. You have heavy downstream interleaving which typically costs 10-12Mbps sync.
It looks as though some error source has been introduced since your Infinity days. Plus perhaps additional connections to the cabinet have caused crosstalk. But where an 18Mbps throughput cap is coming from I have no idea - that's not something we see as a rule.
How long is it since you rebooted the router? Was that three days ago as well?
When did this speed drop start, and was it sudden for the whole drop, or over a period? Is it the same 24/7 or just at certain times of day?

The speed drop has happened since sometime in the early hours this morning and it's been 3 days 16 hours since I rebooted the router (firmware update and changed a RJ11 cable)
The speed drop was all of a sudden and it was absolutely fine last night up till around 11pm at night when I did the last speedtest and I am connected to my PC from work and it's hitting 18mbit down and then stops on all speed test sites and across multiple servers.
Would crosstalk cause a major drop like this though from circa 60mbit down to 18mbit down and no more no less.

Do you have a temporary BQM we can look at? Sam and Adam are pretty helpful as I had a few issues when I first joined which they resolved.
Are there any modem stats besides the profile e.g. FEC and HEC errors etc.

Like this?
I don't have a BQM graph at the minute as I want to see if DLM gets rid of the high interleaving (if I change ICMP echo on the WAN port it causes the router to reboot)

Doubt its congestion at 7 in the morning
Would crosstalk then cause a massive drop such as this then?
Not sure on the technicalitiesof crosstalk to answer sorry. What did Pulse8 say to possibly fix it?
Does seem odd that your speedtest are all very consistant around the 17.5mbps speed. Not much fluctuation there. Could be wrong but would have thought congestion/errors/crosstalk would give more varied results
That's what I was thinking it should be more erratic and not a consistent 17-18mb down and so far Pulse8 have raised a fault and asked me to leave it with them.
Crosstalk basically reduces sync, not throughput.
I suppose if there was some dramatic crosstalk associated with a faulty connection for someone, starting up while you are already in sync, would affect throughput by overwhelming the error correction routines, but I would expect that to cause a lower speed re-sync.
Have you checked for audible noise on the phone?

Think I fixed it looks like my powerline adapters went schizo and disconnecting the cat6 Ethernet cable and reconnecting it has resolved it.
The odd thing is that they are both synced at 255mbits but hey happy the issue is hopefully now resolved.
Cheers for all the help guys.

Glad its fixed. I learnt along time ago technology is weird and does things you cant explain at times

It had me stumped for a while and at least now I know if it happens again I know the first place to look.
Tech is great specially when it decides to stop working for no reason!

Homeplugs are nasty polluting things that run roughshod over EMC law. Your wiring becomes a transmitting antenna causing havoc to others.
Do you mean your "wired" was through the powerline adapters?:- I have run multiple speed tests over wired and wireless and it hits 18 and then abruptly stops almost as if there is an artificial limit applied) Or was it direct wired though with them in use?

Yeah it was over powerline adapters the odd thing is that I connected to wireless and turned off the Ethernet and it was still 18 down and 18 up yet when I get home and disconnected/reconnected the cable everything including wireless went back to full speed.
It looks as if something was interfering but no idea what it was.
This is the first time I have had issues with them in over a year as they are normally rock solid so didn't really think to check them until I got home.
Live and learn!
The way they were causing this problem is rare, but even when they aren't doing you can't really call them "wired" for the purpose of speed testing/diagnostics.
Wired has to be ethernet straight into the router, or even the modem if it's separate. Taking to extremes, also using the test socket to connect the modem.

Point taken
I would prefer a proper wired connection any day but my pc and router are totally different ends of the house and on different floors so cabling it all in would be a nightmare.
It is very unlikely to be a line/openreach issue, the sync speed is clear as day.
DLM affects the sync speed not the throughput.
So the cause of your flat line 18mbit speed? (be sure its flatline rather than an average). Most likely its either your equipment or the isp. Possibly they have a ip profile system of sort and thats gone faulty, dont know.
so was homeplugs eh?
I wasnt wrong at least.
Yup since disconnecting and reconnecting the cables it's running fine now.
Just waiting to see if the interleaving gets removed from my line now at some point.
Stable now for 12 days but the interleaving is still at 1227 and the downstream rate hasn't budged from 62666 (max rate of 74421 currently)
Wondering if I should continue to leave it or give the router a reboot to see if it syncs at a higher rate.
I would do a single reboot well inside daylight hours. That won't upset DLM.
It may or may not give you a small improvement.
If and when interleaving is removed then there will be an automatic re-sync at higher speed, but not to near the current attainable. There is a strange effect - the max available will fall so the two become close together. Actual is often slightly above attainable.

Will give it a couple more days so it's 2 weeks and then will give it a reboot around lunch time to see what happens if nothing increases by then.
Gave my router a kick interleaving has gone down very slightly from 1227 to 1207 and the speed has dropped from 62666 to 61683.

Wonderful, not!
What time of day did you do that?
