Re: SSE Fibre and VDSL modem compatibility

To be fair, it is a new forum and it is just for SSE. Yes, a lot of admin posts, but presumably just to get it started off with useful information. I am a member and although not technically minded am enjoying some of the input being entered by others. It is also easier to wander in and see content just for that provider rather than look through a forum dedicated to "providers without a forum" here as sometime thread titles can be a bit misleading smile.

I don't think it will be a substitute for here, but every little helps wink

"Discuss ISP - Discussing UK Internet Services Providers (ISP)".

Plus the domain name where ending in sse would seem more appropriate if it isn't for other ISPs as well. Why .com not the now available(and cheaper) .uk?

Agree the Plus for single provider. You will see above that I noted there was a place for a Plusnet specific forum where one could get banned for nothing more than pointing out PN shortcomings, unlike your own site.

Lol - We 'Own' less and less these days, and that's before the onset of EU NI numbers!

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying back - been quite busy with the site.

I just wanted to answer a few of the questions that have been highlighted in this thread.

I was originally going to include 'SSE' within the name of the site and domain, but after reading up on domain names that have been disputed for containing already established company names I didn't want to take that chance. The last thing I would want would be for SSE to come along and say the domain name contains there registered trademark, etc. I thought keeping the name generic would be the safest way to go.

With regards to .uk / .com I decided on .com as it is still the most popular domain name type - that was the only reason.

There might only be 32 registered users at the moment (including admin account) but hopefully more people will register and will be a useful resource for many.

Then maybe "Discussing UK Internet Services Providers" needs changing to "Discussing UK Internet Services Provider SSE".

That would be a statement of fact, with no possible infringement of anything smile.

That was the main problem I saw with your site. It is far clearer now.
