G.INP enabled on my line but speedtests remain the same

Confused here guys so need some clarification.

G.INP got recently enabled on my line and my stats are now 78967 down 18835 up but when I do speedtests from www.speedtest.net or www.thinkbroadband.com it peaks at 60-65mbit which is the same as it was before G.INP when it was synced at 69997 down.

I would of thought that I would be seeing around 70mbit + down now as the sync rate has increased?

What are the over heads for FTTC as I know VM synced at 160mbit or so to give me 152mit so I assume you have to knock off a few mbits here and there to get the actual maximum throughput but I am unsure what this figure is.

The speedtests are also the same 24/7 it peaks at 60-65mbit and that's it maxed out and I have never seen anymore than this.

P.S Using 1gbit powerline adapters and they are synced at 255mbit each way.

If you're running the tests through the powerline adapters then they are almost certainly limiting your speed.

Try testing over an ethernet cable wired directly between your PC and the router.

Not sure that's the case when I was on VM I got 150mbit (before they way oversold in my area) all day long with the same powerline adapters in the same socket(s).

Stuck profile perhaps?

You should try it with an ethernet cable cable anyway, just to rule out the powerline adapters.
And turn them off, they have been known radiate interference as well.

If you mean the BT Wholesale IP Profile, that isn't operative on your line.

It might help to see the normal thinkbroadband speed test from the Main Site that does a single thread test as well as the multi-thread.

How do people know that G.INP has been enabled on their line?

I have an HG612 with old firmware (at least it is a while sine I updated it) and an ECI CAB.

If I could "know" that G.INP was enabled I would think about upgrading the firmware etc but it isnt that straightforward - to access the HG612 configuration page means disconnected one of the other connections behind the music centre! Unfortunately of the four CAT6 cables running down there only two actually work and I havent got round to tracing the problem!

You can only know by looking at the stats, so you'll have to upgrade the firmware first.

I had thought that would be the case.

May need to see what is wrong with the two ports that never worked since being installed (a year or more ago). At least I could monitor the stats properly.

Plugged in my tplink wireless ac1200 dongle which was collecting dust in my drawer and hey presto the first speed test hit 73 down and 18 up, unplugged the dongle and ran another speedtest 59 down 18 up and no more no less.

Verdict - Powerline adapters are NO replacement for a good physical connection or in my case a wireless connection!

I may play about and see if I can plug in the powerline adapters into another socket but now I know my line is not capped or whatever the term is losing a few mbits is not going to cause me any harm whatsoever.

I used tp powerline adapters and they did indeed limited my throughput. Even more so when the feed has to pass over 2 circuits. Latency tests between the pc router would show the latency when using the powerline adapters. Intermittent results depending on what else was being used on the circuit.
