Just wondering if the broadband service is still good with Xilo / Uno as I may be looking to migrate (for personal reasons, not because of current service) I cannot get fibre here, so would be best if experience was from non fibre connections, thanks.

Well Matt the UNO rep is around so that's a good sign. Good luck signing up though. I tried weeks ago and never got anything from them.

Excellent reliable service with no throughput slow downs on TTB partial LLU (SMPF) with "pro" ADSL2+ from my exchange. On a one month minimum term it's worth a try if you find the non-returnable activation fees acceptable. Also migrating back to a BTw service could also be an issue but I have no personnel experience of doing that.

On Xilo TTB LLU and no slow downs at any time although my free website is through UNO so I suspect UNO should be the same, dont think Xilo are accepting new sign ups, its usually Matt who answers my tickets on Xilo.

It's either possible we didn't get your message, or your didn't get ours.
If we got yours, you'll have got a reference back via email a few seconds after. Can you provide? If not, we won't have received it.

I've been with Uno since August 2015 and customer service is excellent. I can count on one hand the problems I've had in that year and any problem was slight, resolved very quickly and was mainly a BT fault, also you won't find a better more customer service focused isp. Quite apart from the fact that I'm sure Matt never goes to bed.

I know Matt never sleeps, used to be with Xilo previously until I moved last year. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the reply, I have paid web hosting with Xilo anyway for a few years now, doubt I will need a free website.
|
|
|
|
Thanks, I don't think (from memory) that LLU is available here anyway, its a small town.

Never had a problem receiving replies from Xilo to do with my web hosting, I would imagine all would be fine, if I did sign up with Uno. Thanks for the reply.

Input my phone number on the checker on Uno and can (hopefully) get talk & surf, which is TTB LLU, it will save me money dropping BT for phone line, which I barely use anyway. From looking at the exchange (Halesworth), it appears TTB LLU is available, so that's a start.
Just not sure how it all works with changing everything these days, especially with changing phone provider to, always been with BT. Do Uno tell BT or do I have to cancel that first?

Everything is GPL (Gaining Provider led) these days.
Under no circumstances ever use the words "cancel" or "cease" when talking to ISP phone staff. They very often result in exactly that, which prevents a migration happening and you end up starting again from scratch.

In case you need to contact uno I think some of the no replies issues with uno are due to sending emails not in plain text. I speak from experience. The uno system seems to junk emails not in the requested format. It is safer to use the web based form which ensures things are in the correct format.

You might be migrated to a BT based service first before being switched to uno TTB full LLU. That was the case a few years ago when I migrated to xilo/uno TTB partial LLU from a Plusnet BT based "broadband only" service - I'm not sure if that procedure is still used by uno nor for a full LLU broadband migration and line rental switch.

My current broadband is via entanet. I will contact Uno again via the web contact form, i did send a message this morning, that was answered, sent an email back (plain text - that's how Forte Agent sends emails), but no reply as yet.
Thanks for your reply.

Thanks RobertoS for the input and very good advice.

I used the website's contact form this morning, got a reply to that by email, sent an email back (reply) for just a bit more information, in plain text, as I use Forte Agent and only sends emails in plain text, but no reply as yet. I will copy and paste my reply using the contact us form again, hopefully that will get the last answers I need.

I have been with Uno for long enough now to justifiably say they are a pretty good internet provider. Any time I have had to contact Uno it has been pleasant, curteous and informative with any questions answered mostly within a remarkably quick time frame.
There was a mention on here that Matt never sleeps or at best has a sleeping bag rolled up under his desk. This would explain the fast response times to ticket requests... in fact I had an answer to a question before the kettle had finished boiling for my late night cuppa!!
Matt doesn't sleep at all.... High end artificale intelligent androids only need recharging....once a year!
I was that happy with the customer service and the products I am receiving for my hard earned cash I move all 3 fibre/adsl services to them.
All in I can wholeheartedly recommend them 100%

If only my iPhone would last that long!
Thanks for your comments!

I've been with Uno and Xilo in two stints.
So far they've been awesome provided support to me when needed. If my connection even plays up, which is rare, I always check their status and they usually have an update.
I must agree that Matt never sleeps even on Bank Holidays!
You'll pay a bit more than the cheaper providers but after I got burnt by one of them I'll never go back.

Thanks, I am looking to maybe go on the talk & surf package, I barely use the phone, so don't see the point in paying BT for line rental, when phone and broadband combined works out a lot cheaper than what I am paying now.

I received an email yesterday, to which I replied to, did not get a response to that, no auto email to say you had received it either. I sent my reply via the contact us, late last night, so hopefully I will get a reply to that today, during business hours.

Have you factored in the VAT which needs added to be published web prices which are intended for a business audience. It's a bit easy to miss the small grey print that advises you they are ex-VAT.

Matt
Well I used your sales address, thats all I can tell you.
I'm happy with someone else now anyway

I have factored in VAT, what I am paying for phone and broadband now, talk & surf is cheaper with Uno. My contract for BT phone and broadband (not BT) ends in a couple of days.
|
|
|
|
Edit, BT ends tomorrow, but my broadband (for some reason) doesn't end until the 20th, even though I thought it would have been the date the service started when I moved home last October (7th). I will have to wait a little longer to change.
|
|
|
If you are migrating then I would assume 14 day's notice is all that's required, and you can migrate. Are they suggesting a penalty for leaving before the 20th?
:-/
|
|
|
|
No mention in support tickets, but I do not want to take the chance, I will go ahead with the order, but set it up for the 20th, as Matt / Uno suggested.
|
|
|
Just to add to the general consensus here, I've been with Xilo/Uno since early 2013. In that time I can only recall two problems, one being a general network issue and the other a TTB or OpenReach cock up when migrating from Xilo to an Uno broadband and phone package.
I've not had much need for customer support but when I have it's always been super quick, polite and knowledgeable from people who care.
If your experience is anything like mine you'll have no worries at all.

Thanks for your input, I was, up until moving last year, with Xilo for broadband for a few years, like yourself, only had a couple of hiccups with the service, rarely had to speak to CS. Hopefully, if all goes well with the migration, I will back with them (as Uno) on the 21st.

After reading around was about ready to push the button on transfer. Spoke to a chappy today on the sales line though who really didn't seem to be interested in talking, like I'd interrupted something more important.
It's a shame as so at odds with what people say here but it's made me extremely wary. I could have misread but given issues I've had with current isp it feels like a warning sign.

Ive rung up the sales line on a couple of occasions and been very impressed by them.
Adding VAT on is a bit of a killer though in terms of the cost.
Their TTB fibre option is now available at long last (although not cheap).
|
|
|
|
Yep was very surprised based on what I read but felt uncomfortable. Rang another provider after and was night and day.
They lost a customer from it though, gone elsewhere now.
|
|
|
I have also been with XILO (hosting and FTTC) for ages.
I am not impressed that I have been waiting for about an hour for a callback from tech/customer support to check a few things about moving my broadband to UNO and leaving my hosting with XILO.
I have been assured that I nobody has got through in front of me whilst I am waiting for a call. That is to say that people have been on the phone to CS for over an hour. There is no way to wait in a queue for customer service or tech support. Marvellous! Hardly ever need these services, but when I do I cannot get through.
My questions are mainly to do with billing.

Went live earlier today with Uno on Talk & Surf, totally trouble free, both phone and broadband, just updating the thread and for reference.
