Do Pulse8 block any websites?

[link to this post]

I'm thinking of moving to a TTB LLU FTTC based product from Pulse 8, however, before I jump ship, does anyone know if they block access to any websites such as the ones shown on this list - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_websites_block...

Hmmm then that is because pulse8 don't manage their own filter i guess with just a direct copy and paste service via talktalk wholesale

As my service with TTB tails has no filter.

Probably IP blocks. P8 don't have their own. We can see that from their speed tests.

Thanks to everyone who replied, I guess that I will cross them off my shortlist of potential providers!

Try AAISP. Perhaps their 1GB service.

Wait, are you saying TalkTalk Business bought direct isn't filtered? Supposedly, Pulse8, Uno, etc. are resold TTB, so that surprises me.

I think the filtering is done by the ISP rather than the backhaul

TTB bought direct is filtered, as is anything that's using TT IP addressing.

TTB is the ISP, albeit resold to Pulse8.

Pulse8 (and I believe Uno) are reselling the Internet service, not providing their own. First hop is a TT AS. So backhaul is irrelevant.

BatBoy is I think talking about the same point as I was in my post about IP blocks.

Xilo/uno are using TTB tails, with their own RIPE-allocated IP addresses. Pulse8 are reselling native TTB with TTB RIPE-allocated IP addresses and presumably TTB DNS servers. Those will be vetted.

Can I take it from the recommendation and discussion above that AAISP don't block anything even though they also use talk talk business for their backhaul?

So they say. The highlighted box is clear. However the final paragraph is a convoluted mess.

There are or were other statements about it but I'm using an iPad and searching around is tedious.

As far as I kno w there are no relevant Court Orders against them to compel blocking. Only they can give you assurance. Or not! No forum poster can.

I'm a bit confused about why Pulse8 would appear to filter, but TTB don't. As other people have observed, Pulse8 is just a resold TTB connection as far as we know.

That's Adrian's "canary" graf. It's legalistic for a good reason: anticipating a gag clause should A&A ever be legally forced to filter or monitor. In other words, Adrian believes A&A will be instructed he cannot tell people that this has happened, but it'll be defencible to remove the Canary graf and/or to be evasive when directly asked.

Maybe it's an option from TTB wholesale that resellers can use or not.

Just in the process for signing up for P8 and spotted this in their T&Cs:

3.18 We filter sites that have made it onto the IWF blacklist http://www.iwf.org.uk/members/member-policies/url-list
and any websites that were required to by UK Law.

So there it is in black and white.
