Moving from 40 to 80 mbps contract issue..

Is it standard practice for the ISP or I'm this case TT Wholesale to require the rest of the contract period to be paid off (around 6 months let in my case) before i can upgrade from 40 Mbps to 80 Mbps. My parents didn't have this issue with Sky when they did it half way through their 18 month contract and neither did one of my friends on Plusnet. Even in the mobile industry they don't require that if you want a more expensive tariff or more data on your package.

Just seems a bit weird...

Most ISPs will let you upgrade free of charge during your contracted period, so this is slightly unusual. Uno contract TTB through Daisy Comms, so I assume that Daisy will charge Uno for the regrade and that Uno's business model is to pass all charges on.

Matt is usually fairly quick to respond on Uno related threads, so will be able to give you a more informed statement in due course.

I wonder if for some reason this particular upgrade by the OP involves a move from TTB to BTW? That could cause this.

I think it would still be TTB as that is who supplies their unlimited packages, rather than BTW, The BTW packages are data capped.. and it was Matt that gave me the information. Bit strange huh..?.

A few weeks ago I moved from an Uno TTB ADSL package to Uno TTB fibre 40/10 package (works great by the way) and I asked about a possible upgade to TTB 80/20 within contract.

According to Matt from Uno TTB don't allow product regrades within contract term, understandable from a business perspective if that was a downgrade but it applies both ways oddly.

Pretty much what I was told. Despite them now offering TTB supplied 1 month contract FTTC..

I'm afraid what i've advised previously still remains true.

If I have the right person, following the discussion we had in October, I did mention that it would be a big *should* for a retroactive change for previous 12 month terms agreed prior to the 1 month products. Unfortunately, they are holding those services to the original term.

There is no change to regrades for those either as previously discussed. Sorry!

Less a criticism of you/Uno Matt, but of TTB/Daisy. Seems strange they wouldn�t want to hold me into another 12 months at a higher price point..

It is solely TTB.

If things change retroactively, I'll be in touch.
