A good lab exercise for IPv6 is to make an IPv6-only guest network with NAT64 (support for this depends on your router) and see how different clients work on it - such as Android needing RDNSS to learn about DNS servers whereas iOS is happy with DHCPv6.

A&A offer me a /48 currently. I only use one /64 of that.

I don't have plans to run servers so I am unlikely to use more than one /64 on the new network with SLAAC.

I have one device - a Roku - which is ipv4 only so I can't go 100% ipv6.

It's not hard to go ipv6 only - just point DNS at NAT64 servers,

I think they need to check config. I'll keep an eye on the speed.


I have a public IP - only the top two packages get a public ipv4. All the others get CGNAT.


Ipv6 is standard on all.

One other item - competency and customer service here is the total opposite of what I experienced with Virgin Media in December.

I was querying your "Reconfiguring ipv6 from /64 to /48", which seemed at the time to be the opposite of what you should have been doing . I missed two things .

Mainly the fact (not stated in the thread) that you already had FTTC from AAISP. I thought you were just porting the phone number from wherever to the AAISP VOIP service, as many have done recently.

That led me to the second, where I needlessly explained my reservations about the above, thinking you were proposing a /48 LAN, and why I thought a /64 setup would be best. .

Great news. Sounds really good - I have a L2TP with AAISP to satisfy my homelab needs so would also likely port the landline over. Can’t wait for them to finish up the install round here.

Also good to know the v4 is presented directly from the ONT (and theres no PPPoE! - plays havoc with pfSense when there’s a L2TP interface)

The VOIP account is set up with AAISP but not activated.
