Shell updating their t&c's from June 2022 with ofcom regs

[link to this post]

received this in email

We wanted to let you know that from Friday 17 June, we’ll be making some changes to your terms and conditions to reflect new Ofcom regulations, which give you added consumer protection.

From Friday 17 June, customers who are within their minimum contract term will have the right to leave their contract without incurring any exit fees if we make any changes to the contract after Friday 17 June. This is unless those changes are to your benefit, purely administrative or required by law.

For details, please see our updated terms and conditions.
Just as a reminder, if you're no longer within the minimum term of your contract, you can leave at any time (with the required notice period) without incurring any exit fees.

That's pretty standard stuff but worded in an odd way, it would usually say you can leave if there are any detrimental changes to the contract, not any changes but then add various restrictions in the next sentence.

Anyway nothing unusual or interesting so why have you brought it to the forum's attention?

Or to put it another way, nothing to see here, move along please.smile

Maybe OP doesn't fully understand the implication of these changes and is hoping for someone else to explain at a child like level what they actually mean.

The main changes are due law change that finaly come in effect Royal Assent . European Electronic Communications Code (EECC)
This was meant to happen few years ago but was delayed due to a more pressing medical pandemic.

One few thing will do is make easy to understand what are getting in standard formatted document. It work same way as that document you get with insurance ("Insurance Product Information Document") Who is insurer is/What is Insured/What is not insured/Are there any restrictions on cover. Where am I covered/What are my obligatons/When and how do I pay/When cover start and end/How do I cancel the contract
