Community Fibre - regular connection dropping issues?

[link to this post]

Anyone else have regular Modem connection dropping issues? The LOS led turns red, and the PON led goes off.

This has been happening for quite a few weeks now. Mostly just after 1am, From yesterday it died briefly just after 11am, then just after 1am today, now again just after 11am

Community Fibre service desk keep telling me that "the engineers have changed the settings, and it should be fine now," or "so it is currently working isn't it", but after around 8 occurrences, it is wearing a bit thin?

My location is SE17 3

Thank you

I've been facing connection drops/packet loss for a few weeks now too but my modem lights have been fine. Also, like you mentioned, it's mainly after 1AM until early morning. We have planned maintenance here in E13 area in a few hours so hopefully that fixes the issue.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago.

In my case, it was resolved by asking Community Fibre to clear the MAC cache. I don't fully understand the technical aspects, but it seems that this MAC cache gets filled up with various devices' MAC addresses (I'm assuming this would be customers' routers or whatever devices are being connected to the optical termination boxes).

The only issue is that, even if this works, I think the problem is likely to reoccur if the cache fills up again (it's been around two weeks since my last connection issues, so hopefully it doesn't happen again).

For info, I'm on the 3Gbps service so my connection is not CGNAT. I don't know if the other products (which might be CGNAT) have similar issues, but it may be worth a try.
