I would think that your problem is due to the IP address that you have been assigned. The BBC think that it is normally used abroad. Maybe you could get Fibrehop to assign you a different address.

Normally means an IP address in the block is assigned to a VPN service or that the BBC has blacklisted for some reason. Could also be outdated information on who owns the IP address/block.

Sadly happens a lot with newer ISPs, as there are no more IPv4 blocks available, they are being traded around the world, and there is no central list of which IP is in which country.

The concept of an IP address being in the UK is something the BBC own, and if they incorrectly state 1.2.3.4 is in the USA and actually it has moved to the UK, the BBC need to update. The problem of getting this fixed is one for your ISP to solve.

Yes. I had the same problem today. Phoned FibreHop and explained iPlayer thought I was outside the UK when I connected via the WiFi and their router, but if I connected via 3g, it was OK. They checked and could see my IP was a UK one. They said they would look into it. They researched and found my IP was coming up as being in the USA because of some US geolocation database. FibreHop fixed it by changing the IP address of the router. This was all done in less than half an hour. Top marks to FH for amazing service as always. (E.g. straight through to a smart human in the UK, no call queue, no CRM script, just good)
