Community Fibre - Setup Broadband Monitor

[link to this post]

Anybody have any steps on how to setup a BQM on CF? I know that it can’t be done using the IPv4 address so I tried what I think is the IPv6 public address but all I get is all red so is there something that needs to be enabled/disabled on the router?

Hi - Assuming that you are on the Linksys hardware, you will need to turn off "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests" check-box on the security tab of the console.
Other hardware/your own.... sorry can't help!

Also, make sure you've entered the router's public IPv6 address, not your laptop's IP address (which will of course not respond when the laptop is off.

Or if you have a server that stays on 24x7 you could use that as the ping target, as long as you configure the router to allow inbound icmp6 (either just from Thinkbroadband's server address, or from the whole Internet)

So would this work if you were able to add a firewall rule to the linksys to allow thinkbroadband quality monitor ip?
I can get it to, work just unticking the filter anonymous internet requests just worried about ping sweeps and being more vulnerabl

That is indeed what I did on my router - allowed incoming ICMP from the BQM server farm range of 80.249.99.160/28.
Clearly Im referring to IPv4 but the same principle applies to v6.

What is the reason why you cannot do it on IPv4, I do it for IPv4 without any issues.
Or is your IPv4 using CGNAT ?

Yes I was behind CGNAT but CF have now just changed that for my line.

So you IPv4 Address doesn't now start with like 100.x.x.x ?

If it doesn't start with 100. then you just need to enable what the other said to enable and it should work.

But if it does start with 100. then you are still using CGNAT.
