Configuring Draytek Vigor 2862ac Router for connect YouFibre

[link to this post]

Recently signed up to YouFibre's 150Mbps service and decided to use my own router, a Draytek Vigor 2862ac, and configured the router, following the instructions here:
https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-fttp-wan...
As per the suggestions in the article, I have:
* Connected the ONT into the router's WAN2 port
* Disabled WAN1
* Set the Access Mode to Static or Dynamic IP and to obtain an IP Address Automatically (I don't have or need a static IP)
* Enabled Hardware Acceleration, as per the instructions in the article.
* Disabled the Quality of Service, Bandwidth Limit, and Data Flow Monitor, (again, as instructed).
* Updated to the latest firmware.

Despite this, the speed tests show I'm getting half the speeds that I got with the supplied Arris router.

I made a quick test with a call on Microsoft Teams, this morning and the connection was appalling. Constantly losing connection and frozen camera. My VSDL/FTTC service, (with my old provider) works much better than this.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Check your settings, as per the following;

Try it without HA, as I believe at your 150 tier, it will not make any difference as the CPU in the 2862 should cope.

EDIT - Just found the Draytek Webinar about HA that I watched some time ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCZZ15fa2nU
Around the 14 minute mark it explains the 2862 should be capable of around 300mb without HA.

That's strange, I have a Draytek Vigor 2862 (the non-wi-fi one)

I was able to 250 Mbps on my VM250 connection, connected through the VM Hub in modem mode with the Hardware aceleration disbled. When I had it in July.

I also got 500Mbps on a Toob FTTP. When I had it.

May I ask, if you go to WAN > General Setup, is the Load Balance Mode: set to Auto Weight and IP Based like mine?

I'm guessing as the throughput without HA, is all done via the CPU, you may get more depending on the total CPU load overall. I had a 2866 with 350 VM and 80 BT running concurrently without HA.

Same here Adduxi,

I had VM250 and 80 Mbps FTTC running together load balancing and fail over.

And Toob FTTC 900 Mbps, but the throughput on my 2862 was limited to 500 Mbps it seems.

I allways left it with HA Disabled. When I did try / test out HA enabled once, it made no difference, so left it set to diasabled.

I changed to the 2927 for that reason as I wanted a bit more throughput than the 2866 provided. I have BT 500 at the moment, but hopefully will upgrade to 900 at some point.

I shall upgrade to 2927 too Adduxi, when I get my next 900 Mbps connection.

I'm just using the 2862 as a firewall at the moment, in between my ZTE MC888 5G router.

I'm just looking for a good offer on a 30 Day rolling 900 Mbps connection. I don't want to get stuck in 2 year contract with anyone.

A 2866 can easily cope with a gigabit WAN.

Yes the 2866 does 980 over the WAN in total, however the 2927 does this per WAN. So approx 1.8 Gb
