Re: ADSL24 line rental

Hi James,

Fair Point i'm currently on an opal connection with another reseller and looking for little more usage than they currently offer, will you be using a FUP or hard usage caps & can you state any rough figures for them if so.
Will there be a premium or low contention version available?
Also is your C&W service completely uncapped & customisable as in SNR margins and FASTPATH (or at least a drop on correction available)??

Thanks

It's simply another package we will be offering to reduce customer's monthly bills. If we are able to offer customers who require a bundled service for a better price than they are paying for line rental and broadband separately at present, we need to offer this as an option rather than lose that customer to TalkTalk or similar smile

Been on holiday or been busy? smile

So is this new service based on the Talk Talk network then?
I think I will stay as I am to be honest, the service works fine and I think the quality of the cable and wireless network is far better than Talk Talk from what I have seen

On the CW platform we don't have any SNR control and interleaving can't be completely turned off, but the latency can be lowered. On The Opal, we have full control of the profile, so SNR of 6-15dB and Interleaved/Fast path - instant changes.

The CW services is completely uncapped, as zyborg47 will confirm I'm sure.

Can't give the usage detail out just yet but we're almost ready to go with it.

What package are you on at present?

James

It's based on the Opal/CPW network yes, but it's simply using the MSAN equipment at the exchange, it doesn't go in to their network or is not traffic managed in any way, just like how we do the CW service. The only difference is that line rental is included, and it's not unlimited at this time. We do have more control over the interleaving and snr on the Opal platform too. Both networks are pretty reliable to be honest, I couldn't say one is better than the other.

One thing I will say is that it should not be associated with the "TalkTalk" retail product as it's nothing like that (which is cheap as chips anyway so a lesser service is to be expected) smile

i am on ADSL24 cable and wireless service and yes it is fully uncapped, no traffic management either, so you download what you like at the speed you get.

As James said there is no way to change SNR or fastpath, But not a problem for me to be honest as I don't play loads of games. But saying that a mate of mine who is on the same network, but with a different ISp do play a lot of games, download a load of stuff from steam and have no problem with the lack of fast path, mind you the lucky so and so do get 16Megabits

Hi James,

i am currently on a package which gives me a 100GB FUP via a reseller, this does as i understand from the isp have some flexibility if i happen to run over a little, i would be looking for maybe a larger limit like 150GB with a little grace if i happened to creep over or a off peak period which either has a larger limit or no limit would be great smile

The C&W option should also be open to me very soon (i hope) as my exchange WWYEOV has the equipment apparently installed just awaiting a test completion, so demon say, can you confirm this or shed any light on when this may happen??
I do have a net gear router available to me with the DGT Firmware so SNR would not be a problem when using that router i wouldn't imagine.

Many Thanks

I'll be honest and say that our pacakge will be 50GB peak usage but with unlimited off-peak usage, which is midnight-8am and well weekend. Therefore you could use as much as you like during off-peak, so all your downloads could be scheduled for off-peak whist still having the full 50GB in weekday times.

Is your 100GB package full LLU (MPF: adsl + line rental?)

Hi James,

Thats very good news for myself as i don't have any issues with overnight downloads and the free weekends is a massive bonus.

I am currently on SMPF.
I would look to have another line put in just for the broadband, Do you know what connection charges will be for new lines?
Will your line rental have a minimum amount of calls that must be made from the line like BT or can it just be used as and when needed or not atall?

Many Thanks

At present we will only be able to migrate lines to the Opal MPF platform, but new lines coming soon. One option is to order a bt line and cheap broadband with us (new BT line with us is £79 on a 1 month contract), and then we can migrate you for free to the Opal service. And no, there is no minimum calls required, you don't even need to use the line for calls if you only need the broadband.
