Plus have always said that they were ahead of the pack and this proves it. Mind you, they did think they were 2 years ahead and this proves that in reality it's less than a month. It's astonishing how much info you can store in 2gb isn't it.

I also heard that there were some very strangely popular searches on there such as how to kill wifes. I shudder to think what my searches would reveal about me :-)

I saw something in one of the reports on how the "web is 15 years old" that said one real year is apparently equivelant to seven net years, so I guess PlusNet might be two internet years ahead, which is about 1.7 months...?!

So if this is an AOL issue why post in the PlusNet forum? What were your objectives when posting this here?

Actually if you type your plusnet username into google it can reveal alot.

Alot of sites have unprotected vistor stats scripts running and google seems to notice these.

ON several occasions i've been able to get a list of sevearl sites a person has visted by simply typing in their plusnet username.

This is because of the hostname. username.plus.com.

it may not be quite as detailed as what aol did and it obviously wont tell ya every site you've visted but u can see a list.

Just a thought.

Hi

Funny I just mentioned this over in PUG that about 2 years ago PlusNet were saying a tool would be added to the portal to change the rDNS not to reveal your username. Still waiting....

For anyone concerned you can raise a ticket to ask that your username be removed from the rDNS entry.

If I type my PlusNet user name into Google I get only 6 responses. 2 are to the 2 web sites that I host on my account, and 3 are to forum responses that my son has entered. The 6th is more interesting:

http://tanaya.net/dns/81/174/159.text

It list all 245 DNS emtries for the PlusNet subnet that I am on. Changing the domain IP addresses in the URL provides other subnets.

Appalling and it needs resolving. I wonder if sarahwilliams realises the sheer volume of spam she receives is because plusnet isn't retaining personal data in accordance with the DPA?
