Very good, but "One swallow doth not a summer make".

Can they keep it up?

So that seems to be the answer to PlusNet's problems. Staff the CSC with their high level managers, working both in the office and from home 24 hours a day.

See them at work on http://www.plus.net/webcams/

In reply to:

Excellent idea for many companies- stops 'em managing so the rest of the staff can get on with their jobs

Well, I got my target SNR reduced at 04:10 this morning from 12 dB to 6 dB - so that makes two swallows

I am really pleased with the result - so keep it up PN.

What on earth were you doing checking SNR at that time of the morning? I've heard of MaxDSL junkies, but that's ridiculous

Yes, I saw the report that they'd be on CSC duty over the bank holiday.

I wasn't entirely joking either

I'll rephrase that: 'BT reduced my SNR margin at 04:10 this morning'
However, since PN advised me last night that it was going to happen, I was up quite early to check - just not that early! However I've got the monitoring system checking every few minutes - so that's probably junkyish anyway

IPStream Max gets you like that... with fixed rate it would just look after itself. Now there are so many variables between BT, PN, and my equpment, it sometimes seems to be an full-time occupation keeping it running under optimum conditions...

It looks though this might have cracked it as, now BT has dropped the target margin, my SAR130 will let me set the down line-rate, so I should be able to fixed my own 'stable-rate'... we'll see if it's that simple, I doubt it!

Call me a cynic, but why after months of poor CS and people remarking that the web cams showed almost empty CS offices on a daily basis, what's so special about Bank Holiday Monday? Will all the back log be cleared in one day and will it all return to normal tomorrow? I will be looking at camera's again then. That picture will tell me the real story.

Doug
