Disconnections again on LLU...

[link to this post]

This is getting absurd.

Over 10 disconnects since 11am. Problem has been up on the service status for a few days but no resolve. What a load of rubbish!

I've requested I be transferred back to BTw. What are the chances of this happenning without being charged?

You'll probably need to wait a few more weeks of dire connections before they will consider you for transfer back to BTw owing to the costs involved for Plus.net. They have to prove that they have exhausted all avenues given to them by Tiscali wholesale before conceding that you can't run LLU stable enough.

If you can, log a ticket on the Plus.net run portal and then pop over to the PUG and give a nod to one of the Plus.net reps to take a closer look.

James or Mand might be able to help out.

quite simply...you won't. I've had to do cease and re-provides for my customers, between us we decided it was worth cutting the losses and having a week of down time. Luckily it's been those that aren't completely dependant on their service and also some have another line to activate a service on so no downtime.

I had one customer with no service for almost 2 months and they (PN) weren't interested in finding the fault or putting the service back to BTw. I was just lucky that this line was filtered from the master with face-plate and so it HAD to be a Tiscali fault (funny how the BTw stuff works fine) because otherwise they'd just forever blame your wiring and equipment.

I've managed to get PN to agree to push 1 account back to BTw provided service, but they're dragging their heels, they say it's a 3 week process.

PN say that the Tiscali kit is a "business grade product", I find that incredibly hard to believe. Yes, the upstream may be slightly higher, but what's the contention? And do all their business grade connections drop about 3x times a day? Ever since this LLU nonsense started, the 5 LLU lines that I've been monitoring drop at any time of the day and come back within 5-10mins, or sometimes an hour. Really useful if you're on a VoIP call, using Plusnet's Plustalk! Ignoring this latest fault that's been open for about 4 or 5 days, these drops I'm seeing have been since day 1 in May!

I can't wait to have all my customer's off Plusnet, their whole attitude towards the faults are appalling.

That's a shame, and people had such high hopes about Plus.net turning things around but it sounds like it all comes back down to one thing.. money..

Maybe Plus.net should take out some money that already hasn't been assigned for customer support and use it for moving people from LLU to BTw as they had previously promised.. (Maybe Tiscali can give them a bulk discount like they did when plus.net promised to migrate 20,000 subscribers over to LLU) but I'm sure that some others on here will say that pigs will fly first..

Yes, it's quite clear that Plusnet is now only money driven. They can say all they like and try to defend it, but their fantastic model and the support with sensible replies to tickets within 3-4hrs has all gone for sure. I'm fairly sure they will try to compete with the TalkTalk/Orange size providers and within the next few years I can see them folding.

If they stop messing around, genuinely sort out the faults for people which they know are there (i.e. put everyone back to BTw service) then they have some chance. If they continue with Tiscali, they will get nowhere, it is an inferior product and Tiscali clearly do not have the support or fault finding tools that Plusnet quite adamantly claimed they'd have.

Yes I realise BT had it's niggles at the beginning, but you have to admit that their attention to faults is much better than Tiscali. How can you check exchange capacity problems, exchange upgrades or MSO's for the Tiscali system? The whole thing is not transparent, it's just not good enough for the end user. My customer's will be staying on BTw provided services until LLU becomes a sensible viable option.

Hi

Also having some PPP disconnects on LLU but only around 1 drop every 10 hours, started in the last 48 hours.

As for contention on LLU, my download speeds are constantly around 6500, doesn't matter if peak time or not, MaxDSL was down to around 1.5 or 2 during peak times, so LLU is better for me in that respect and comes with a higher upload speed and ADSL2+ for a more robust sync and the chances of greater than 8Mbit/sec in the future. Of course different exchanges are likely to give different results.

LLU isn't all bad and my initial 11 days of downtime when PlusNet switched me to LLU is fading into a distant memory

As for PlusNets customer service, well I agree they leave a lot to be desired.
