Service Status Alerts

[link to this post]

Is this Service Status Alert thing (screenshot) new? I've not seen them used on the portal before, and I'd guess that as it's appeared off to the edge of the page and with javascript errors as it's still in testing (although I do have IE7 RC1 so it might just be a bug)

It is new and there does appear to be a problem with positioning when using IE. If you use Firefox then it is positioned correctly in the centre of the page.

Looks like it's a new thing... although it could do with some <br /> tags in it ...

I would comment, but the portal is slower than glue running off sand paper.

Obviously nobody has been informed of the change away from the " Questions " terminology, back to the clearly more sensible " Tickets " system.

Just adds to the confusion.

I've got Opera and Firefox (and a couple of other browsers) but no one is going to be able to tempt me away from IE... especially IE7 which has suprised me with how much it's grown on me in such a short time.

For reference, it's also bodged on IE6, so doesn't seem to be an IE7 bug.

I suspect the web designers are using a linux box (since Plusnet are heavily into Linux) and only thought to test it on afew browsers.
The odd thing I found when practicing CSS design is that most of my designs seemed to work in IE but Firefox gave me no end of grief. Its not supposed to be that way if you read the web tutorials.

Well, actually it is. Firefox complies to the standards, IE6 at least doesn't. However, IE6 is more tolerant of errors.

Same here. For some reason, I was told that's it's an IE fault.
