Anyone else with no service in St Albans area?

[link to this post]

Hi All,

My broadband in St Albans has been very flaky ever since the move to 8Mb with 2 or 3 disconnections a day. Once in a while it runs at 6 or 7 Mb, but usually it works down at around 2Mb.

On Saturday the service seemed to slow down and by Sunday night it was completely unusable.

I have logged a call with PN and ran through the Broadband Fault Checker (which was difficult to find on the portal, I had to find it via the site search facility) and they forwarded me details of the Free Call dial-up number, which I'm now having to use.

The modem all looks happy and as far as it's concerned, it's all connected right, but web browsing just goes nowhere.

Anyone else having the same problems as me?

Cheers,
Phil

Here's my Netgear DG834G stats:

Someone over in the Bulldog forum is asking the very same question So it looks more of a problem than just PlusNet. Then again when the anti-PN brigade see this they will no doubt assume that PN have somehow sabotaged the St Albans exchange, perhaps in some sort of SAS raid.

Thanks for the tip, Squirrel.

I immediately started using my back up dialup account, but as soon as I ran through the BB Fault Checker, they sent me the phone number for the free dial up backup, which was much appreciated.

I believe this was supposed to happen when they migrated everyone to 8Mb, but they probably got caught out with so many problems, so it never happened. At that point I had no BB for 5 days.

Fingers crossed it gets fixed earlier this time...
