Should I stay or should I go now?

[link to this post]

Evening all.

I've been a Plusnet customer for a few years now (long enough to remember when they were good )

Up until two weeks ago I was on a 2meg line and most of the time I got 2meg or there abouts.
I've just been maxed in the last couple of weeks (not sure when, I was on holiday), my router shows me synced at a stable 7968 downstream and 448 upstream (I'm in spitting distance of the exchange ), since being maxed I am lucky to get 1meg at anytime of the day or night ( I even got up at 3am to try it and got a lightning fast 960kbps).

I did an online check on the Plusnet site and left a comment at the end about the situation and this is the reply I got...

The results of our tests show no fault with your broadband connection. Completed speed tests show that your connection speed is: none found

According to BT, this speed is within the limits of acceptable performance for broadband service.

Kind Regards,
Customer Support

Well thanks a bunch Plusnet, really helpful that. Blatantly obvious theres a problem somewhere.

Is there anything else I can try before I offer Zen my hard earned cash?

Cheers

Have you logged into the BT speed tester so you can count out exchange contention?

I would send them one more reply and the opportunity to keep your business and convince you stay and depending on the response I would make a decision. If they reply as halfheartedly as the previous message or with an automated reply I would ask for my MAC and leave. They need you but they must fight to keep you. That is my motto anyway.

Looks like contention but not enough for BT to do anything

Even at 3am in the morning

[censored]....

It wasnt THAT rude

Think I'm going to jump ship anyway, PN should be the ones helping me with the problem, what with me being the CUSTOMER and all. Not me having to hassle you good folk.

Thanks for your help guys.

Take a look at samknows.com -- see if any LLU providers are in your area. If so, consider moving to them - they have no contention issues, at least any as bad as this.

You will have to do the BT speed test at 3am

You have done the correct one and logged in to carry it out ?
