BT IPSTREAM MAX

[link to this post]

Hiya,

I am leaving PN and moving to AOL.

I asked for my MAC from PN but had to wait to I cleared what I owed them. (no probs).

While waiting for my MAC PN changed me from (ADSL) BT IPSTREAM HOME 2000 to
BT IPSTREAM MAX.

I now have my MAC code and now waiting for AOL to take over.

Looking for views to see if what happened to me was good/ bad/ doesn't matter.

If your MaxDSL service is stable, you have won a watch! the regrade to MaxDSL normally costs the ISP ~

I thought that all MAX upgrades were free...? Isn't this more likely a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing? Or that the upgrade was set in motion before the OP applied for his MAC?

I think the upgrade was set before I moved.
Must have just timed it right. (as if i knew I was going to me put on Max I would have waited anyway)

BT price list says there is a charge, but that doesn't mention bulk regrades. I'm unsure of the details on those..

AFAIK, PlusNet paid for a bulk regrade of all of its users to MaxDSL but stopped the process when problems were encountered. They recently re-started the regrades so if the OP had asked for a queue jump he would have got it early in the schedule of the remaining users. However, I suspect that the regrades will all be done fairly soon.

To the OP, My MaxDSL connection has now stabilised at a Sync speed of 6464Kbps with a SNR margin of ~12db and data rates of near 5000Kbps. For a line which is ~ 2Km in length af was laid before 1975, I consider this to be excellent. The connection is rock solid and has not had to re-sync other than the one occasion when we had a power outage last week. If your MaxDSL connection is stable with PlusNet, I expect that it will also be so on AOL.
