How do I get plusnet to up my speed?

[link to this post]

I checked my router tonight and it is sync'ing at 2880. Speed test still say 1mb speeds.

I'm sure this means that I have been maxed but do plusnet need to do something now to give me the benefit?

No longer 'BB4MESOON' as I now have it and I'm happily flying with plusnet on Broadband Home Premier 1Mb 1000!!
Downstream 956 Kbps (119.5 KB/sec) 1032 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 236 Kbps (29.5 KB/sec) 254 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Can you post your up and down stream noise margin and attenuation?

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate say which determins your max throughput?

This should change from either 1000 (if that was what you were on previously) or 2000 to probably 2500 based on your sync rate within 3 days of you being maxed normally. If this remains at 1000/2000 after 12 days then raise a ticket and get PN to investigate.

Petervaughn:

Thanks, the report says...
-------------------------------------------------
Your High-speed Broadband Service

Your current broadband speed is 2500 Kbps

What does this speed mean?
This is the speed that the network supplier is telling us you should expect on your line. If your hardware is reporting higher speeds, you can try and automatically update this speed by disconnecting and reconnecting once a day for 3 days
------------------------------------------------------

Does this mean that the ten day upgrade period has passed?

No, as I said, this value is normally changed within 3 days of your being maxed. There is no way to tell when you were maxed so can't tell when the 10 day period expires. You could try raisong a question and asl PN to give you your max date, your will then know when the 10 days are/were up.

Given your sync speed, it is likely what you are getting now is what you will end up with after the 10 day trial and everything appears to be correct, except for your speed test results.

Are you using the PN speedtest? Have you tried the ADSLguide one to see what it reports (you can post a link to the AG on so we can see it).

Note: until your 10 days are up, PN can't raise a speed related fault with BT so maybe raise a question to get your max date so you know where you are.

Your ADSL speed should settle to its final level in the first three days.

The only significance of the 10 days quoted is that the ISP is not permitted to lodge a fault report with BT for the first 10 days.

Disconnect then reconnect..

(reboot router)

See if that makes it any better.
