Cancelation issues

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Today I decided to cancel my broadband with plusnet after 15 months. I didn't have a contract, as they told me and that I am on a PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 package. However, I am sure I never singed up for any options.

During this period I moved so I took the Free Move option but now they ask money for that!
This is what they ask:

Deferred Activation
Current Cancellation Charge :

Had you read the T/C of the free move, which said you have now entered into the 5 year deferred payment scheme........
You may have decided that a cease and restart was the best option....

DId you take the modem ?
Did you pay the BT activation upfront when you joined ?

There is no such thing as free at +net till 5 years are up....

If you read the small print in the link under the small print on the terms and conditions page on the small print of the MOVE MY ADSL FOR FREE page you would have seen there was ample warning that the move was only free after 5 years and decreases by a 5th every year.

Hi,

They say the following:
"Unfortunately it's not so much a case of being willing to pay. The amount is calculated as per the terms and conditionf of your service. The house move, and deferred fees are free - if you stay with us. This is made quite clear on the house move page, and on the signup pages.

The total cancellation charge remains and before this is settled then we cannot arrange cancellation of your account, nor can we issue a MAC key.

These fees are costs that we have already paid out on your behalf.

Your initial payment is your first month's subscription, your payment for being on a monthly contract, and postage and packaging of your modem.

Please authorise us to take your payment should you wish to receive your MAC key.
"
Which logical person would say that it is clear, its cleary hidden is a better thing to say.

I am not convinced, so at moment so I am not paying. Do u think is the right thing to do.

I left PN a month ago (best thing i did)

I had to pay up, but only one charge as i never moved house.

It don't seem right to be charged so much, but here
PN is in the right.
You agreed to a contract without reading it fully, If you had
read it you would have known the full charges.

You can choose to wait, but PN won't give you a MAC key
till you have paid.

If you do want to move without paying PN, you would need BT to cease and
reprovide your line. But that means you would be without internet for a while.
Also you would need to sign up to a 12 month contract, or pay about

Unfortunately Plusnet are quite right. It is true that the banners proclaimed house moves to be free, but it was clearly stated in the text that they were actually deferred over five years, i.e. you pay 20% less each year that you stay with them. Of course few people bother reading everything.
