Its been 8 days since I was MAX'd and Im still getting 2mb download speeds, what course of action should I be taking or should I wait till the ten day training period has finished before I do anything?
All my information is as follows:
The BT site says my phoneline can get 8mb, SamKnows says Im 425m from the exchange.
From my Linksys AG241 router my line stats are:
Downstream Rate: 7616 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 12 db
Upstream Margin: 24 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 21
Upstream Line Attenuation: 11
And from the BT Speedtester site I get the following result:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1993 kbps
Any advice is appreciated as if I should be getting 6.5mb+ speeds and am not then just need to know who can correct it!
Many thanks,
Chris

Bang a ticket into Plusnet as it seems they haven't received/acted on the delta report from BT giving you a 6.5Mb download profile. It is possible that the report will come in today, but a ticket giving the info from the BT speedtester won't hurt.

I am in exactly the same situation here.
2000 speed but syncing at 7616.
Mine has also been 8 days.
If you get anywhere with PlusNet please report back as I want to get increased as well.

No problem, Ive raised a ticket/question with them about it and it said theyre responding within 7hrs. As soon as I get anything back from them I'll post back.

what does http://www.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate say ?
As "IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps " its not a BT BRAS issue.

That page says:

Your current broadband speed is 8000 Kbps

I have had a response to my ticket saying....
"I have made some further changes on your account which may resolve the issue.
Please disconnect for one full hour and reconnect to see if the issue still persists."
As Im at work I wont be able to do anything about it until later tonight when I get home but fingers crossed it'll be fixed! I'll update later.
Cheers,
Chris

Got back in from work and have had the router disconnected for an hour as they asked....
New BT speed test result is....
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 6500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2407 kbps
So slightly better than this morning but not much!

ADSLGuide speed test says
Downstream 5,542.2 Kbps ( = 5.4 Mbps )
Upstream 374.3 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )
Think I might give it a day or two to settle down before I go moaning to Plusnet again as not sure what the speed actually is!

I've never got sensible results from either the BT or PN tester - well unless my speed was really low anyway. Generally the AG tester seems fine. Best to try timing some actual data transfers: FTP or whatever.

Download speeds seem about 300k/sec so not as fast as I would expect considering the 6.5MB line profile from the BT speedtester.....
