OK - What's the full procedure for leaving?

[link to this post]

I now want to leave Plusnet.... so what do I do?

I've read posts ststing that you've got to be careful in how you word the request for a MAC code, as some have had their connection "ceased".

I want to migrate to another ISP, so what procedure / wording do I follow.

Thanks guys.

***edit**
I joined on a yearly contract on Nov 17th 2005. Can I request my MAC before this, or do I have to wait until this date before I REQUEST it?

I got mine within a couple of hours a few weeks ago.

Even offered me a free month if I stayed!

No they don't, it's just one function of provisioning I think, but they do have a limited number of staff authorised to issue them.

You should have accepted it - the free month is simply a refund on your last paid bill. After receiving the refund you could have still left any time you wanted to (contractual obligations may have applied).
