When did this "You stay, we pay" thing come in ??

[link to this post]

Hi all,

As above really.

I joined Plus.net back on the 29th Nov 2002 (but have been regraded a couple of times since) - but didn't get any hardware from them at all.

I assume that since I am not on LLU and am on a monthly contract, then should I leave I only have to the pay the 30 days notice thing ?

Regards,

You would assume correctly.

The deferred fees options where introduced about 18 months ago I believe and only affect those customers who choose that option. Like you it was and still is possible to pay your fees up front if you wish.

I am sure I have read that you can check your account details to find out any outstanding monies owed, however in your case it seems unlikely.

Not sure if it gives your payment history from day one but I do believe in '02 fees were paid up front, so it may be regrades that you have to check on.

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...

I believe that you can leave any time you like and the only liability is for 30 days notice or payment in lieu thereof.

You should raise a ticket asking for a MAC and ask PlusNet to confirm that there are no penalties or other charges applicable to your account.

If you request the MAC a day or two before your next payment is due and then pass the MAC to your new provider about 20 days later, your migration should complete near the end of your pre-paid month. I strongly recommend that you ask them to downgrade your account to a FREE Dial-up PayGo account on completion of migration rather than cancel the account. This will ensure your access to the Portal and keep your mail account open as long as you keep collecting your POP3 mail.

On completion of migration, remember to raise another ticket on the portal telling PlusNet that the migration to your new ISP is complete. This should happen automatically but BT sometimes "forget" to alert PlusNet and they have been known to continue billing. If this happens, PlusNet will refund your payment.

If you request a MAC and then do not use it, nothing happens and you remain a PlusNet Customer.

In reply to:

but BT sometimes "forget" to alert PlusNet

So states Plusnet They`ve been saying this for many many months. I wonder how many tickets are raised by people who are over charged because alledgedly BT sometimes "forget" to alert PlusNet"

Does it not seem reasonable to assume if that was actually the case, representations would have been made and the matter resolved???.

I can believe it because we are after all talking about BT. It has even happened to some Zen customers albeit not many.

If you move you can also incur deferred charges over 5 years. https://portal.plus.net/my.html?s=0&action=adsl_reprovision doesn't make it very clear that "Let us cover the cost" has implications. It has a dagger to a footnote which doesn't mention the 5 years and it's only when you click the Terms & Conditions link that you get the full details.

It could be better!

Do you also by any chance know when the 'Terms Apply' was prominently displayed? I read a post by someone that outlined when it was not very clear and even when it was completely missing but for the life of me can't find it.

To fewer Zen users because fewer are leaving?

It is possible that is the reason. I have only read about two such cases at Zen in the last 6 months so I am unsure for the cause of the problem at PN and anything I would state would be pure speculation.
