Requesting a MAC - Last payment

[link to this post]

On the requesting a MAC page it states
In reply to:

Final payments will need to be taken via a credit or debit card where possible. When submitting your request to cancel or migrate to another provider please ensure your payment details are up to date and provide authorisation for any final payment to be taken. Please use the 'Update Payment Details' link at the foot of this page to update your details.

Does 'Final payments' include the last monthly subscription or is it just things like deferred fees? If the normal payment, why can't it be taken by Direct Debit as usual?

Doesn't matter too much for their reasons but you could advise them that a cheque is in the post instead. It would make no difference or, if you prefer, give them a Switch number to your account from where the direct debit is normally taken.

In the past it has always been the deferred fees as all normal monthly payments will continue to be taken until the end of contract (this includes any due in the 30 day notice period). One reason for this is PN do not start the account closure process when they issue a MAC, so if it is not used and expires you will still be a PN customer with a PN connection after the MACs 30 day life.

The final payments would include any deferred charges that were owed on your account.

We would issue the MAC code and then if it had not been used by the time your next monthly payment was taken then you would be charged the next monthly payment. This would be taken in the normal way that you pay each month.

We would then refund any unused subscription monies when we receive confirmation that the migration has completed.

Hi - thanks for your quick reply. That's what I expected, but isn't necessarily how it reads on the page.

Cheers
