BT Speedtester query

[link to this post]

hi

Is anyone else having trouble in past week and a half trying to connect to speedtester.bt.com ?

All I see is a white box with an X in it, within a black bar running along top of both my computers.

I'm on IPstream (connected via Juniper 8)

Works fine here bill, visit http://java.com/en/download/ and make sure you have the latest version

Edit.

Also bill once you have the latest Java version, use Internet explorer rather than firefox for BT Speedtester

tnx for advice & for confirming the website is working.

I noticed it worked with Opera.

I updated Java but problem persisted in IE7.

After a lot of head scratching, I finally found the problem.

speedtester.bt.com works fine in opera (and it used to work ok with IE7)

I now find I have to type in the URL www.speedtester.bt.com

This URL prefixed with www works fine in IE7.

Careful if you use opera and the btw speedtester.

Sometimes after you complete a test - opera still continues downloading the file until you close the browser window.

Tnx for the tip.

I checked my usage and it does look to be 200Mb higher than I would have expected. I recall I did allow Opera to complete the one speed test.

If I enter

http://www.speedtester.bt.com/

all I get is the 'X'

If I enter

http://217.32.105.42/

all works correctly - any ideas?

Yes it does
What has changed? www.speedtester.bt.com was and still is bookmarked. I have always used that!

I've no idea

speedtester.bt.com doesn't work for me any more

but www.speedtester.bt.com does work.

I guess it must be a BT webserver configuration issue as DNS appears to be resolving to same IP address.
