Hiya,

Whilst Wheel_Nut has replied to all of your questions, I thought you might want a take from a member of staff too

1. how does the traffic shaping work? My current connection is on a profile of 3000 and my download speeds are (were ) 2900kbps. would it be noticeable?

Your synchronisation speeds should be similar. Your actual throughput speeds will depend on what you're downloading and which product you choose. Your speedtests should remain similar though. If you choose BBYW Pro, all traffic is given a "Gold" or "Titanium" priority on our Network and as such will always give the best speeds our network will allow. If you select Option 2 or 3, time sensitive traffic such as http, streaming and email is given the "Gold" priority, whereas other protocols have different prioritisation and rate limitations applied depending on the time of day. This page on our website explains this best.

2. Is phorm used by plusnet?

No.

4. I have no interest in the free router, do I still have to accept the free one from plusnet?

No, you don't.

5. Can Interleave be set to off as a default?

It's set to auto as default, however once your order completes, we can have it turned off within a working day for you.

6. Anything else you can think of, any suggestions.

We have a Comms Team (as previously mentioned) that spend time on both here, our Community Site and other forums, trying to help out customers wherever possible.

In a way its a no-brainer considering the 90 day guarantee.

just one more Q. The free voip minutes, can they be used at any time of day. Are unused minutes carried forward?

BTW, thanks to all who have replied and helped/

Just about to make an exit from Enta and looking at what my options are

I'm looking at option 2 or 3.

Couple of questions.

1. how does the traffic shaping work? My current connection is on a profile of 3000 and my download speeds are (were ) 2900kbps. would it be noticeable?

2. Is phorm used by plusnet?

4. I have no interest in the free router, do I still have to accept the free one from plusnet?

5. Can Interleave be set to off as a default?

6. Anything else you can think of, any suggestions.

Many thanks

Like wheel nut I did leave plusnet in 2006 (summer) due the downturn that happened to plusnet. I did go Eclipse net which at first was great but as BT wholesale prices changed and Eclipse more or less forcing people to either change tariff or move - i left.

I came back to plusnet under their business packages which I am glad I have done and I am glad I am back with PN!...

Not sure how the free domain name works (the pn biz pages don't seem to explain).

The great thing about PN is that they are more than honest about what they do and why...

Both here and on PNs own forum seems to be full of inputs direct from PN staff. I've even seen one thread where PN offered to send out a 'test router' to a user in difficulty. I have never seen that before.

Another point, important to me, is that PN seems to take its time proving new products thoroughly ie adsl2. I'm with Enta at the moment, and I do find it frustrating being used as a guinea pig for new technologies and paying for the privilege.

Good to hear

Let me know once you've placed your order and I'll be happy to take a look to make sure everything is progressing as it should.
