PN reps - I reckon the main issue is ... ...

... ... that a 12 month contract is fair enough for new customers amortising the cost of setting up the account, connection fees etc. However it is unreasonable to insist that an existing customer who has demonstrated loyalty and simply wants to change their product to increase included capacity, add features etc should be tied down for 12 or 18 months and unable to move product again without incurrring substantial cost.

As per mobile phone contracts where the 12 or 18 month contract pays off the cost of hardware, so you get better hardware over 18 months than 12, discounted deals could be offered on the basis of a long contract (like the recent £3 per month off on the basis of a 12 month contract). Though there should be a standard price, monthly contract option for customers who have been loyal for 12 months or more.

yup, we can only hope that someone is listening out there and might review things.

i'd be on unlimited now if it was a 6 month contract, maybe if it was 12, for the moment i'm just thinking about it lots, but at the same time it's given me reason to look elsewhere for what other deals are available.

i was going to get a few people coming out of contacts with isp's like aol signed up, but they wouldnt look twice now at a minimum of 18 months.

as mentioned though, if it was 18 months with a really good bit of hardware there is an incentive.
