Anyone moved to 'Unlimited' yet?
How does it compare's with 'Premier Option 1' in practice?
Does the heavy throttling cause any problems?

My reason for asking the original question was that at the moment I am three months into a 12 month contract to take advantage of the £3 discount offered on Premier.

With the amount of throttling on 'Unlimited' I am a little undecided whether to change to 'Unlimited' or wait for nine months and move to 'O2', who are offering an unthrottled connection even cheaper than Plusnet.

I am due to be switched over to the "unlimited" (note inverted commas) package at the start of April, moving from BBYW option 3. I will let you know how it goes - or doesn't

I never had a problem with PlusNet - I was on one of the early 2Mbps PAYG packages which were immune from the traffic shaping and throttling they originally brought in just after the time of the "Bad boys" pipe. I left to go to Bulldog LLU, then Sky LLU and finally O2 LLU. For £7.34 month (I am on O2 phone customer so get £5 discount) I get a truly unlimited, unthrottled connection running at about 5.5Mbps down, 1Mbps up.

Going to LLU was the best move I ever made, O2 is probably the best connection I have had.

I second that, been with PN for 5 years, left because they wanted a minimum 18 (reduced to 12 eventually) months tie in.

PN speed was about 1850-2000 download, 450 upload, with my LLU O2 connection I'm getting 3600 down and 960 up, and it works flat out at all times of the day or night.

PN aint bad at all though, I was always happy with the service, but if you have an option to go LLU, DO IT!

As a Plusnet customer I won't be going LLU - why you ask.
These are the options on my exchange
AOL, TalkTalk, Orange and Sky (I don't have a Sky dish)

Just for info, I believe Sky broadband is delivered via a BT landline.

I know but if you don't have Sky TV it is very expensive

I have now actually moved to unlimited and there is no difference compared with Premier option 1 for the applications I use, apart from the financial saving.

With the positive things I have heard about O2 I think I may well be moving to them later in the year. I had to contact O2 Broadband support for my Son in law last week, I was impressed by the speed that I was connected to an actual person and the assistance given by them. Total call time was 18 minutes including four re-boots a download and final test!
I have waited longer than that just trying to speak to a Plusnet advisor before giving up.

Aren't you on at least a twelve-month contract then? Eighteen unless you raise a ticket sharpish?
