£1/month .co.uk domain - email

[link to this post]

We've taken up the £1/month .co.uk domain offer from plusnet and the web hosting is working fine, but how do we send/receive email with the new domain?

Emails sent to yourmailbox@yourdomain.co.uk are delivered to yourmailbox@yourusername.plus.com. So you collect them alongside any sent to the latter address.

Similarly you send messages the same way as you do from the latter address. It is up to you what "reply" address (or "identity") you specify in your mailing program.

Thanks! Is there any reason why this would take a few days to work? We only got the domain today, I'd already tried what you suggested before posting here but the email bounced.

There will be MX records to be set up on DNS and circulated round the Internet, and Manage My Mail/IronPort settings to be configured. I guess it could take a few hours for the latter to complete. DNS circulation can take longer.

Hmmm, DNS (for the web hosting) has been working for 2 days now, but emails still bounce. Guess we'll just have to be patient...
