Plusnet/Line Problems

[link to this post]

Hi

New to the site, thought people could help me with an issue I have with my broadband

I use to have Nildram a few years back, and was getting between 5Mbps and 7Mbps, never had any issues, however after migrating to BT Retail, same speeds but few months on started getting really poor connections, including disconnections.

It was dropping out quite, abit, and was having to re-connect all the time. I checked the filters that are connected, and even replaced them incase one was faulty, and removed everything off the line but same problems occured. A fault was reported, and something was done as fault was fixed, but since that time, speeds have been low as 1Mbps, and now getting 3Mbps.

I rang up BT, but got told it was my PC, after getting fed up I migrated to Plusnet, support has been good, and they have reported the issue. After checks being made, I find the speed marginally increases in the test socket. I do alot of online gaming as well, and find that my latency is very poor, high pings. The connection has started disconnecting at the test socket now but been advised I would be charged if an engineer came out to the property.

I am using the BT Hub 1800 from my BT day's, as didn't get a router from Plusnet as didn't see any reason to buy one when already got one.

Is there anything else I can do, I know nothing on telephone lines, they were already in, not touched them. I guess moving Internet Providers will not change anything, as I have been considering moving elsewhere. However if plusnet can fix it would be great, or can advise me how to fix it, if it's my end, would be great also

Any help would be great, thanks

Only if the problem is found to be with your equipment or internal wiring. Could you borrow a router or modem to rule the hub out as a potential cause of the problem?

Do you have a ticket number that one of us could take a look at?

Hi bpullen

The ticket number is 28517943, Plusnet said they, I assume they mean BT, are changing something on the line, but still the same problem.
