Bounced Emails

[link to this post]

I sent an email to a friend's hotmail account last night and it bounced. I then sent one to his wife and that bounced too. Is it me or have they taken a dislike to PN at Hotmail.

"The following message to <****@hotmail.com> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'SC-004 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been placed against your IP address because we have received complaints concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help. It's a known problem: http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_ac...

Should be ok now!

I have not tried again. However I really do not feel that one should
forever be looking at support services for such routine matters.

The RTO problem is a similar irritation.

For the record I never had these problems with Pipex!

It is possible some PC (ie a user) at Plusnet has a virus/trojan that is sending out millions of spam emails to Hotmail. Or just something similar. The emails may not even have been getting there from Plusnet servers. It could even be a human error at Hotmail.

Looking at the link that was given to you, I don't think you understand what the message or the Plusnet responses mean. I suggest you calm down and think about it.

It is nothing to do with Plusnet - it is that Hotmail have blacklisted Plusnet email servers. Plusnet have reacted quickly and efficiently. They also put messages on the support system explaining what was going on.

That is excellent service. Did you get that at Pipex?

Edit - typo.

The problem is getting on a blocklist in the first place.

Major mail companies rarely place a "whitelisted" ISP SMTP server on their RBLs without good reason - or at least without having attempting to contact the ISP in question.......

The actual internet service from PXC was actually quite good - and there were very few know-it-alls on the discussion boards either....

You must admit you were a bit OTT though in your second post - complaining about the support sytem reporting what was happening.

In your first post you asked if it was Hotmail taking a dislike to PN. The answer you were gived was "Yes". So why complain further?

Pace.

You only need to look when there is a problem, which in my experience is not very often. Then it is a useful aide!

I have now bookmarked the PN support page and will watch with interest. I do however note that "Broadband" service status is showing amber with an update scheduled for 4th May, two days ago!

I find sometimes the page shows amber even when the problem is fixed. they do this just to make sure the problem has gone & does not come back.
I also signed up for emails which I redirect into a plusnet inbox so I get all the service status reports. Some not that relevent but it lets me know what is happening. Also lets me know they are adding more bandwidth.
Sorry but I can't remember where I signed up it was ages ago.
