Does anyone have any experience of reporting a Fault Threshold breach and what steps get undertaken when one occurs? Over the last year my line has worsened from 55db attenuation with a peak sync of 4300-odd kbps to 58db attenuation and 3232 kbps sync. As a result I am now a whisker away from my Fault Threshold Rate which plusnet have previously informed me is 3200 kbps. My SNRM has remained 6db throughout. In fact, iirc, BT's DLM won't actually raise my SNRM in response to a problem now because it would automatically cause a breach of the FTR.
I've been through all the routers you can imagine, have a filtered face-plate and a half-metre twisted-pair RJ11 between the master socket and the router. I've monitored using DMT, RouterStats and a portable AM radio. I'm as sure as I reasonably can be that I've done all I can and eliminated all I can. It seems I will inevitably drop through the FTR soon, but when I do what can I expect when I report the fault? I can just imagine an engineer coming out, trying his USB modem, fluking a sync above 3200 kbps, clearing the fault as line within spec and charging me for the pleasure.
Would the history of the line be taken into account? If the engineer can't sync above the FTR is there a procedure he has follow like checking at the cabinet, checking joints, checking in the exchange etc etc? Or would I just be swapped to an available pair with the possibility that that pair is actually worse than the pair I'm on?
I have actually fallen below the FTR once already but as my very next sync was above it I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that I couldn't report it.
