why do plus net no longer offer webspace to new custoemrs. That use to be one of the really good things about them. Instead they now redirect you to another company.
PHP is hosted via webspace - so unlikely they still do it.
Presumably it was a change of target audience. Long ago they targeted the more technically savvy customer and therefore provided all sorts of additional stuff. These days the vast majority of "normal" customers aren't looking to doing any sort of website hosting. So, where is the point in maintaining a cluster of servers, patching, upgrading PHP/MySQL etc, providing various tools, etc, etc to a very smally percentage of customers.
Better to let a professional hosting company do it for the people who want it and not roll the costs into the base package pricing.
I would agree for anything "serious" I would always go to a web hosting site like 1&1, however many ISPs offer some web space to their domestic customers. For example so people can have a photo album or other such small use.

They still have PHP for users who were using hosting before the new product launch - not sure how many people are impressed by it being stuck at PHP Version 4.3.10 when all support for that ended a year ago!
