I agree that this really belongs in a non PlusNet-specific forum because the outrageous practice of "Headline Pricing" is widespread.
I actively challenged PlusNet on their own Forum when they first resorted to this practice with the release of their entry level Phone Line and Broadband deal. The Headline pricing was misleading and after a long debate, I could not find a satisfactory solution which allowed PlusNet to compete in grabbing the comparison site headline without resorting to the same practice as did TalkTalk, Orange and others. While the prevailing Law allowed this despicable practice, it wasn't fair to single out PlusNet for criticism.
I am glad to see the OFT taking some action to stamp out this practice. For myself, I act with as much venom as the Law permits when I find myself the victim of this practice. About two years ago, Scottish Gas signed me up at 15:30 on the day that they announced a major increase in tarriff. During the call, I accepted their offer to expedite the change if I waived my right to cancel within the durstion mandated by distance selling rules. Needless to say, I migrated out as soon as the migration in happened. I have had two calls this week from Scottish Gas trying to lure me back. I have to keep reminding myself that the callers are simply employees of the company I dislike.
